**Job Overview**
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join our Urgent Care team in Lakeville, MN This is a 0.65 FTE ( **52 hours** per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening. This position **requires** working day/evening and every-other weekend. This position is eligible for **up to a $2000 New Hire** Sign On Bonus!
As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. The Medical Assistant will gather information and documents to support the patient visit. The medical assistant is responsible for adhering to all policies, procedures and practice guidelines, promoting teamwork with all members of the health care team, maintaining complete, timely and accurate clinical documentation for each patient and continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and workflow.
**Responsibilities**
+ Delivers care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
+ Follows the patient's plan of care.
+ Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician/authorized practitioner and other health care team members.
+ Performs high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication administration, assistance with CPR, assistance with procedures and may include lab draws.
+ Recognizes when different approaches may be needed based on age or cultural differences.
+ Implements assigned aspects of the patient teaching plan.
+ Documents care in the medical record.
+ Effectively communicates compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN.
+ Takes action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patient.
+ Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
+ Responds appropriately to emergent situations
+ Functions as care team assistant as needed
+ Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team.
+ Documents care in the medical record.
+ Communicates verbal and written information in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner.
+ Uses communication approaches appropriate to patient/family needs
+ Respect and ensures the confidentiality of all information regarding patients, staff members or Fairview business issues. Shares information only with those who need to know.

**Required Qualifications**
+ Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or

+ A clinical externship is required for non-certified MA applicants with less than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN)

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:**

There may be some potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials, however, proper training will be provided to handle any of these type chemicals and infectious materials.
**EDUCATION:**
+ High school/Vocational diploma or G.E.D.
+ Technician training or AA Degree in electronics preferred.
**EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:**
+ At least six months experience working in a technical (industry/hospital) setting.
+ Must demonstrate organizational and leadership skills, including those required to problem-solve in a medical, health care environment.
+ Attend all technical training programs required by state/federal regulations and FMCNA policy.
+ Newly hired or promoted incumbents are responsible for the requirements of the respiratory fit policy.

+ The position involves moderately active work including walking and standing for considerable lengths of time. Bending down to floor level is required for some repair and maintenance of equipment.
+ The position requires a considerable amount of physical work. There is a two-person assist program and equipment available for moving the heavier loads/equipment. The employee must regularly move boxes, drums, and equipment of up to 600 lbs. in weight. The use of dollies or other equipment is mandatory while moving items that weigh approximately 600 lbs. The employee must frequently mix and lift chemical and water solutions of up to 50 lbs. up as high as 5 feet. During an emergency, ensuring patient well-being and safety is of the utmost priority so documented FMCNA emergency procedures must be followed. These could include hand cranking the dialysis machines, clamping and disconnecting bloodlines, and moving patients to safety.
+ The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. There may be some potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials, however, proper training will be provided to handle any of these type chemicals and infectious materials.
**EDUCATION:**
+ High school/Vocational diploma or G.E.D.
+ Technician training or AA Degree in electronics preferred.
**EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:**
+ At least six months experience working in a technical (industry/hospital) setting.
+ Must demonstrate organizational and leadership skills, including those required to problem-solve in a medical, health care environment.
+ Attend all technical training programs required by state/federal regulations and FMCNA policy.
+ Newly hired or promoted incumbents are responsible for the requirements of the respiratory fit policy.
+ Valid Driver's License and/or ability to cover at other facilities and transport equipment and supplies as needed.
+ Continued employment contingent upon successful completion of the FMCNA Training Program for Technical Staff.
The rate of pay for this position will depend on the successful candidate's work location and qualifications, including relevant education, work experience, skills, and competencies.
Hourly Rate: $21.00 - $30.00

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team, this position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations.



All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations.



· Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.

· Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed.

· Assesses, collaborates, and documents patient/family’s basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family.

· Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.

· Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.

· Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.

· Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.

· Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.

· Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.

· Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· The position provides direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide assistance.

· The employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.

· May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.

· Day to day work includes desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians.

· The position may require travel to training sites or other facilities.

· Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge, after meeting all the following:

· Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees.

· Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN.

· Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN.



Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

· Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
