Job Title: Patient Care Technician

Nights 7p-7:30a 3-12s 36 hours every other weekend every other holiday.

*Acute care experience required*

Job Functions:
1. Assists with patient transport and transfer within department and hospital.
2. Administers Oxygen via nasal cannula NRB and BVM.
3. Applies NIB ECG electrodes pulse oximetry and end-tidal CO2 for central monitoring of patients.
4. Assists with responding to patient call lights and/or family requests and refers appropriately.
5. Assures the safety of the patient population served by demonstrating age-appropriate skills when assisting with nursing care activities as directed by licensed nursing personnel.
6. Performs duties generally supportive to the activities of daily living for patients which do not require nursing assessment skills during their performance.
7. Performs unit related tasks as assigned by the Nurse Director or designee.
8. Attends appropriate inservice and educational programs commensurate with job responsibilities.
9. Floats to various units as requested.
10. Accepts assignments and under the direction from the Charge RN or designee.
11. Immediately reports changes in patient condition to primary care RN.
12. Completes assignments and demonstrates ability to adapt to changes in workload.
13. Accurately obtains documents and reports vital signs and rechecks as needed. Reports abnormal findings to primary RN or Charge RN.
14. Accurately measures and documents intake and output as needed.
15. Performs capillary blood glucose testing utilizing proper technique and equipment document results and reports abnormal results to RN.
16. Performs ECGs.
17. Maintains and supports patients rights to care privacy and respect.
18. Participates in unit/hospital projects that seek to improve patient care.
19. Other duties as assigned from time to time.

HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR / NURSE MANAGER POSITION SUMMARY The Health Services Administrator (HSA) is the chief administrative manager of the on-site health services department. The HSA is accountable for the delivery of contract services and ensuring that VitalCore Health Strategies is in compliance with all aspects of the client contract. The HSA is responsible for recruiting and hiring all personnel and accountable for interviewing and selecting contractual staff. In addition to managing the site budget, the HSA constructs and supervises an annual operational plan. The HSA is responsible for developing and maintaining positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with clients (administrator/warden, supervisor, etc.) and ensuring customer satisfaction.
HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR / NURSE MANAGER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or another related field.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse recommended but not required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in a healthcare setting necessary.
  • Clinical experience
  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance.
  • Correctional healthcare experience preferred.
HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR / NURSE MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages the healthcare delivery system and coordinates with other functions within the facility.
  • Manages the budget and financial performance of the site. Submits timely and accurate reports to supervisor and/or
  • corporate office.
  • Develops and/or supervises the facility operational plan.
  • Directs the activities of the assigned staff.
  • Actively recruits new staff.
  • Arranges interview process for potential staff including necessary collateral colleagues (i.e., Director of Nursing) and
  • departments.
  • Interfaces with VitalCore Human Resources for the hiring and terminating of all site staff. Manages labor ensuring the
  • site is staffed according to contractual commitments and supervises staff scheduling.
  • Coordinates and participates in the interviewing and selection of Independent Contractors.
  • Ensures orientation of new VitalCore personnel by conducting or coordinating all initial new hire and annual orientation
  • and training activities.
  • Ensures site utilization and compliance with all VitalCore and applicable client systems and applications.
  • Coordinates the Medical Audit Committee and facilitates the monthly meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with ACA and/or NCCHC standards and VitalCore clinical services and administrative policies and
  • procedures.
  • Coordinates with Hospital Administrators and other external providers on the delivery of services at hospitals or
  • other external health services locations outside the facility. When appropriate, negotiates third party contracts for
  • the facility.
  • Adheres to and enforces all safety and security policies and procedures and participates in and ensures compliance with
  • applicable safety/emergency drills.
  • Follows and enforces all security regulations, including but not limited to keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
  • Ensures annual performance evaluations are conducted and completed with all personnel, including peer reviews.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.

Job training to become an operating room specialist consists of 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, which includes on-the-job instruction.  Some of the skills youll learn are:

***THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ENLISTMENT IN THE U.S. ARMY OR ARMY RESERVE***

As an Operating Room Specialist in the U.S. Army or Army Reserve, you will be responsible for assisting the nursing staff in preparing the patient and operating room environment.  You will provide assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures.  You will also operate the centralized material service and are responsible for preparing and maintaining sterile medical supplies and special equipment for medical treatment facilities. 

Job Duties

  • Provide assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures to include the creation and maintenance of sterile fields for surgical procedures
  • Assist in preparing patients and operating room environment for surgery
  • Perform various preoperative and postoperative procedures as directed.  This does not include the manipulation of tissue (e.g., cutting, suturing, cannulating, grafting, sawing or drilling)
  • Responsible for the sterilization process, which includes inspecting, cleaning, assembling, warping and sterilizing equipment

Experience

Because the U.S. Army provides training for all of our military occupational specialties, no specific experience in the medical field is necessary.  

Candidates with a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) may be exempt from some training requirements.
