Summary
Performs CT scans of designated anatomy using professional judgment while imaging with regard to technical quality according to physician specifications. Provides courteous and professional delivery of CT technical exams and procedures while adhering to radiation safety precautions. Supports patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding PHI and HIPPA related information. On-call as required by the department. Works in a hospital facility that offers full hospital services. Provides direct patient care to high acuity patients encompassing emergency, inpatient and outpatient classes supporting up to and including trauma and ICU.
Job Duties
- Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly including scanners, injectors, and monitors.
- Reviews all images of all exams, repeating images as necessary for best possible result.
- Communicates with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to the patient, explaining the exam in lay terms and keeping the patient Informed of exam progress.
- Prepares patient images to PACs for interpretation by a radiologist and administers contrast media per protocol.
- Completes technical notes, verifies images, and sends exams to PACS promptly.
- Notifies physician of any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient's condition.
- Reviews patient chart/script prior to initiating exam to verify pertinent information.
- Prepares patients for CT procedures by accurately assessing patient's needs, medical history, and provides patient education.
- Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
- Attends department meetings or other mandatory meetings with a positive attitude.
- Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical School Diploma Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent or
- CNMT, RT(CT) Certified
- Less than 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist
- Ability to provide proper patient care essential to radiologic procedures.
- Knowledge and skills to perform scans on patients of all ages, adapting to various protocols.
- Proficient use of the advanced software for CT scanning and post procedure processing applications.
- Strong aptitude for CT technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and upbeat demeanor.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Job Description
$15,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for an X-ray Tech I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include X-ray Tech II based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply. Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A Radiologic Technologist performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
Job Duties
+ Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
+ Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
+ Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
+ Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
+ Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
+ Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
+ Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (i.e., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).

Position Details
+ New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of the date of hire.
+ Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education
Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s)
Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
