**The Opportunity**
The Senior Specialist Environmental Health & Safety opportunity is for an experienced EHS professional who works independently to apply established principles, practices, regulations, and internal standards. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, providing solutions, and leading EHS initiatives with minimal supervision.
**Position Summary**
The EHS professional is responsible for planning, directing, and executing EHS assignments while ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement. This role requires technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate across the organization.
**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
**Compliance Responsibilities**
+ Ensure adherence to all applicable corporate, divisional, and regulatory policies and procedures.
+ Stay current with evolving regulations and standards.
+ Identify and mitigate EHS risks associated with new or modified processes.
+ Represent the company during regulatory inspections and internal audits.
+ Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
+ Analyze and communicate EHS performance data.
+ Contribute to achieving EHS targets.
**Project Management**
+ Independently plan and manage multiple concurrent projects.
+ Define project scope and conduct feasibility studies.
+ Develop and maintain project schedules and metrics.
+ Ensure delivery of project objectives within scope, cost, and timeline.
+ Develop EHS strategies and contingency plans as needed.
**Technical Expertise**
+ Apply advanced technical knowledge to EHS programs and systems.
+ Benchmark best practices internally and externally.
+ Lead the design, execution, and reporting of EHS projects.
+ Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
+ Prepare actionable recommendations and implementation plans.
**Problem Solving & Innovation**
+ Deliver cost-effective and value-added solutions.
+ Identify and resolve complex EHS challenges.
+ Conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective actions.
+ Anticipate future trends and develop proactive strategies.
**Organizational Interface**
+ Mentor and guide team members and peers.
+ Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Represent the company in external meetings and industry groups.
+ Identify training needs and develop/deliver EHS training programs.
+ Communicate effectively and foster collaboration across teams.
**Additional Responsibilities**
+ Develop and maintain EHS procedures and standards.
+ Complete EHS checklists for capital expenditure requests.
+ Participate in committees and cross-functional teams.
+ Provide support during crisis situations requiring rapid decision-making.
+ Direct and mentor technicians and external resources.
+ Recommend actions to achieve departmental and project objectives.
+ Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
+ Responsible for achieving or contributing towards EHS targets.
+ Develops and maintains procedures and standards.
+ Completes Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs) EHS checklist, and prepares project scope documents.
+ Provides training. Represents EHS on committees, project teams, etc.
+ Assists in the resolution of EHS problems, and crisis situations requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and experience.
+ Directs the efforts and development of others such as technicians and outside resources.
+ Provides mentoring in technical and organizational areas.
+ Works under management direction.
+ Develops approach to solutions.
+ Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
+ Identifies and quantifies technical risks and their consequences and recommends appropriate action.
+ Provides recommendations to achieve department/project objectives.
+ Drives EHS performance.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING**
**Required:**
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ A Technical or Bachelor's Degree in EHS, engineering, science, nursing (Master's Nursing Degree required) or closely related discipline is desired.
**Experience**
+ Minimum 5 years of desired EHS and/or operational experience.
+ Demonstrated competencies in: Set Vision & Strategy, Anticipate, Innovate, Build and Deliver Results.
+ Post-graduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the required years of experience.
+ Professional certification(s) desirable.
+ Equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence may be considered.
