Certifications Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography (R) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Current unrestricted license in the state of practice Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry required within two years of employment

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language. Ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure. Ability to work self-directed and to function without direct supervision. Ability and willingness to have and maintain flexibility in work duties and hours (may require flexible schedule such as nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, etc.). General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and the hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to the various disease states. Skills to preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationally published criteria. Skills to assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.

Job Duties Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy. Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care. Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding. Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV). Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted. Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.). Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required.

Your everyday

Demonstrate technical skills and knowledge in use of all CT equipment, protocols, procedures and producing high quality imaging.

Prepare patient for study with appropriate dress, procedure review, education, and ease anxiety and fear by answering questions and addressing concerns.

Position patients as determined for specific studies, specific ages, and specific condition, use immobilization as required and apply radiation protection and safety standards.

Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action for a positive outcome.

Evaluate critical test findings and review anatomic details and abnormalities on scans with radiologists if needed.

Maintains inventory of supplies and orders as needed. Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of the patients and employees. Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical or mechanical hazards.

Clean and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, immediately report dangerous conditions to the appropriate person.

Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone and follow all quality control checks.

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.

Perform first aid assistance, when necessary, practice sterile techniques and prevent cross contamination.

Consult with radiologist for determination of scan procedures and notify of positive screening responses as necessary.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification

Current Radiography certification (ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist

Current Radiology Technician CT certification (ARRT CT) - Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE)

Summary of the Job:
Performs clerical function for a designated time frame in accordance with the standards and procedures of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program. Current Louisiana LPN Licensure. Previous ED or Urgent Care experience preferred.

Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. ALS required within 6 months of hire

Demonstrated communication, time management and organizational skills required. Must have typing and computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and be able to perform detail oriented tasks.

Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Constant (67%-100%) - hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - reaching, handling/feeling, talking
