Qualifications    

• Must have and maintain an active, unencumbered license (LPN/LVN) in the state in which the clinician will practice
• Compact licenses must be transferred to your state of residence within 90 days   
• Current CPR certification (with hands-on component)- Aveanna can assist in obtaining this requirement after hire, if necessary.
• TB skin test (current within last 12 months)   
• Six months prior hands-on nursing experience preferred but not required   
• Must have reliable transportation

Medical Technologists are professional health caregivers who constantly seek performance improvement in all areas of Laboratory analysis. He/she will interact and service all age groups including neonatal, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. They must be proficient in phlebotomy for the groups (if applicable). All technicians and technologists are generalists and must be able to perform automated and manual testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, and Serology. They must have the ability to perform instrument maintenance and be competent to interpret calibrations and QC. They must be able to prioritize work and maintain a professional demeanor under stress.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory/Medical Technology Science required

Experience: 18 months of hospital laboratory experience required with six of the months in full-time equivalent general Medical technology position within a Valley Health facility

Certification & Licensures: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) (formerly HEW), proficiency testing, required West Virginia DHHR Clinical Laboratory Practitioner License if applicable

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide support under the guidance of licensed NP/PA providers.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Perform IV starts and blood draws (as allowed by state regulations).
• Apply splints and provide wound care.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate point-of-care laboratory equipment.
• Conduct EKGs as needed.
• Assist NP/PAs with daily operations of a mobile care delivery unit.
• Document medical information accurately.
• Manage supply stocking and organization.

Essential Qualifications:

• Medical Technician with IV Certification and valid VA EMT License.
• Candidates with a bachelor's degree in core or lab science and 2+ years of experience in chemistry and hematology, particularly with i-STAT devices, are encouraged to apply.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate multiple flights of stairs.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (Please note we cannot sponsor an employment Visa at this time).
