Job Description & Requirements- Specialty: MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General medical patients requiring advanced hemodynamics and continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic and neurologic status
o Respiratory compromise or failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen devices, NIPPV or ventilator support
o Renal Failure with CRRT capabilities
o Severe Sepsis with hemodynamic instability and IV resuscitation
o General, Vascular, or thoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory or hemodynamic support include pharmacological vasopressor support
o Cardiac arrest requiring targeted temperature management
o Neuro – Medical cases Stroke with or without Tenecteplase (TNK) or Traumatic Fall with some neurosurgical intervention (EVD management or ICP monitoring)
o DKA/HHNK – Insulin drips with Endotool titrations
Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS – Resource Team requirements
● Skills required:
o Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, titration of drips, ventilator care (we have Respiratory Therapist 24/7), vascular lines, chest tubes, post procedure site care – trans radial bands, femoral venous or arterial sheaths, CRRT, post pulmonary artery thrombectomy (EKOS, Prenumbra, Inari)

Responsibilities The MDS Coordinator - RN is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the MDS treatment assessment tool and for reviewing care plans and their delivery for factors specific to our patients/residents such as physical, cognitive, and socialization factors to ensure compliance with our high standards of care. Manage the overall process and tracking of all Medicare/Medicaid case-mix documents to assure appropriate reimbursement for services provided within the nursing center. Conduct concurrent MDS reviews to assure achievement of maximum allowable RUG categories. Integrate information from nursing, dietary, social services, restorative, rehabilitation, and physician services to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure. LPNs with MDS experience may be considered. At least one year of long-term care nursing experience is required.

Provide assistance to residents in an Assisted Living Community with activities of daily living as needed according to individual and physician-directed Care Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living as needed according to Care Plan (toileting, ambulation, eating, transferring, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, etc.)
- Assure that residents are dressed appropriately when in living areas of the home or outside the building.
- Assist and teach the resident self-help skills with activities of daily living in order to maximize their independence and freedom of movement.
- Based on training criteria, perform all personal care tasks. With completion of the 45-hour course, perform basic personal care tasks. If the 80-hour course is completed, perform special health related tasks, as approved by doctors' orders, approved and signed off by RN.
- Provide personal assistance as needed, requested, or required.
- Respond to hand bell or other signaling calls.
- Assist the residents with transportation when so indicated by the ED/Administrator.
- Assist the Activities Coordinator in carrying out planned activities.
- Provide assistance to residents to keep clothes in proper order.
- Assist residents with making beds as needed and make beds when residents are not able to do so.
- Provide residents with a clean towel and washcloth as needed.
- Provide assistance with using, emptying and cleaning resident equipment (urinals, bedside commodes, bed pans, wash basins, shower chairs, etc.) as needed.
- Assure residents receive their snacks and assist them at mealtime as needed.
- Help orient new residents admitted to the home.
- Notify ED/Administrator, RCC or SIC when there is a need for medical attention of any resident or any other change in resident status.
- Be able to apply all rules and regulations pertaining to the use of restraints as ordered by physicians in writing.
- Report any accident or incident to ED/Administrator, RCC or SIC.
- Help maintain the self-respect, personal dignity and physical safety of each resident.
- Work cooperatively with all other staff and relate favorably to residents, their families and visitors.
- Be familiar with confidentiality of resident information and adhere to requirements.
- Be familiar with and be able to apply all the adult care home's accident, fire safety, OSHA and emergency procedures.
- Be familiar with the Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights and assist residents in exercising their rights.
- Assure careful treatment of adult care home equipment and utilization of supplies.
- Read and adhere to all Adult Care Home and employee policies.
- Participate in any job-related continuing education as required by ED/Administrator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in accordance with licensing rules and the home's administrative policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation as required in resident services, such as progress notes, incidents, changes in condition, appearance and behavior of residents.
- Perform other duties as required by circumstance.
Qualifications:
- Must have or obtain C.N.A or Personal Care Aide Certificate (80-Hour) with Personal Care Aide Training within 6-Months of hire.
- Must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to Lift, Push, Pull and Carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to Bend, Stoop, Squat, and reach overhead as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have no substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program and maintain during employment.
- Must have a clear SBI record and maintain during period of employment.
- Must have two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test).
