The Neonatologist will be responsible to follow care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants with a variety of neonatal illnesses and conditions covering a broad spectrum of health issues. The Neonatologist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including attending, advanced practitioner staff, nursing and subspecialists to provide this care. Additionally, the Neonatologist will be responsible to teach a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows and to participate in all academic conferences and meetings within the Division. The Neonatologist is also expected to pursue additional academic pursuits.

Responsibilities
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
- Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
- Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.
- Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
- Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Ensures appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.
- Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows
- Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.
- Academic title at the University of Connecticut will be commensurate with academic credentials.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required
Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable
LICENSE And/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Active CT Physician license
Active DEA
Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
