Mold Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the effective completion of maintenance and preventive maintenance activities for all tooling.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employees will be trained to all applicable company standards as identified on the company training matrix TR-401

1. Be capable of repairing and maintaining existing tooling while working to deadlines.

2. Be capable of effectively operating Tool Room equipment. (Milling machines, Lathes, Etc.)

3. Willing to work overtime on short notice when needed.

4. Complete all tasks in a safe and productive manner so as to ensure the health and safety of not only yourself but your coworkers as well.

5. Maintain high levels of housekeeping at all times.

6. Track all hours and complete all documentation on a daily basis.

7. Maximize the utilization of time and equipment.

8. Technical support for the Maintenance Manager, Shift Supervisors, Processors, Mold Setters

9. Continual communication with the Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Shift Supervisors, Processors, Mold Setters and support staffs to ensure continuity of efforts.

10. Other assignments as designated by the Maintenance Manager.

SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Requires a commitment to continuous improvement in order to meet ever increasing demands for improved quality, cost, and delivery performance.

2. Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent.

3. Ability to communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager, as well as with other staff members and production personnel.

4. Must be able to work as an individual but also as part of a team.

5. Must have own tools, as a minimum see attached Tool List.

6. Need to have a high level of flexibility when required.

7. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in what can sometimes be a stressful environment and treat people with respect.

8. Be able to think on your feet so you can complete tasks in a rapid yet safe manner.

9. Must have a positive attitude and commitment towards improving the company’s performance.

10. Experienced in the maintenance and repair of large injection molds.

11. Must be able to identify solutions to molding defects caused by the tooling.

12. Strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Competency

1. Requires a minimum of a 2-year degree in a Maintenance or Tooling field of study or equivalent work experience.

2. Requires a minimum of 70% on testing of, Electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, Mechanical, Welding/cutting, tooling, and Environmental.

3. Requires a Crane operating license.

4. Requires a Fork Lift operating license.

5. Requires a minimum score of 70% on the Lock out – Tag out (LOTO) Test.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Mold Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Third Shift: 10:15 PM - 6:45 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Performs electronics troubleshooting and repairs (Experience preferred - e.g., radar, electron beam, laser technology, x-ray equipment).
• Performs routine daily maintenance activities for the facility and scheduled preventative maintenance on the processing equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Identifies problems, collects data, draws valid conclusions, recommends corrective action and carries out necessary repairs in a timely manner to restore equipment to operational status.
• Determine the materials needed, obtains pricing information, completes purchase orders and with the Maintenance Managers approval, orders materials needed.
• Coordinates with operations personnel regarding work orders and outside contractors, as necessary.
• Adheres to all facility safety programs and protocols.
• Perform Calibrations on equipment and components as required.
• Assists with additional tasks as assigned by Maintenance Manager and General Manager.
• Repair and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Mechanical/Electrical Engineering experience Tech school and/or 4-year degree; 10 or more years of experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety.
• Ability to read and interpret ladder logic, electronic, electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and fluid controls, process chillers, and ultra-high vacuum systems (including leak checking, ion pumps, and controllers).
• Experience with LabView and/or Trendview experience a plus.
• Language, mathematical and reasoning skills necessary to compute complex measurements and read and comprehend detailed instructions and electrical/mechanical drawings.
• 10 years of maintenance experience in a processing/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Familiarity with 480V 3-phase power and high voltage equipment (oscillators, modulators, electron tubes, power supplies).
• Knowledge/experience working with Ultra-high vacuum systems, leak checking, ion pumps, and controllers.
• Proficient in Electric motor control troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools and their safe use.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

You will be responsible for the troubleshooting and repairing all electrical and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of manufacturing equipment. You will work alongside some of the most knowledgeable, skilled, and dedicated team members in the industry to help guide you to success. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Work experience in a similar role ideally in production orientated environment, with emphasis on CNC machines and mechanical presses is preferred. 
• Strong electrical & mechanical analytical problem-solving ability. 
• Experiences in welding, sheet metal fabrication and pipe fitting. 
• Working knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic blueprints. 
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. 
• Strong oral and written communication and basic computer skills. 
• Shift flexibility and willingness to work overtime is desired. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Support production operations for all maintenance requirements, including hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems as scheduled. 
• Select materials and operate equipment to complete work including electrical hand tools and voltage or ampere measuring devices. 
• Troubleshoots and maintains all plant equipment through the application of sound troubleshooting techniques and superior repair methodology.
