Responsibilities
Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions in a high-acuity CVICU setting.
Assess patients' cardiovascular status, monitor cardiac rhythms, and administer medications as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for optimal patient outcomes.
Perform advanced cardiac monitoring and interventions, including hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
Educate patients and their families on cardiovascular health, treatment options, and post-discharge care strategies to promote recovery and prevent complications.
Required Qualifications
Current RN license
BLS (Other Certifications as required by facility)
2 years of recent Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) nursing experience.
Strong communication and adaptability skills.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit in Utica, NY . This role is ideal for a nurse with strong critical care experience, excellent clinical judgment, and a passion for delivering exceptional care to post-op cardiac and critically ill patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous monitoring and care to post-operative cardiac surgery and critically ill cardiovascular patients
- Administer IV medications, manage ventilators, cardiac drips, and other life-sustaining interventions
- Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams to develop and implement care plans
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatments using EMR systems
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and unit policies
- Educate patients and families on treatments, recovery, and discharge plans
- Float to other ICU or critical care units as needed
- Active RN license in the state of New York (unrestricted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or ICU experience (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- Proficient in use of EMR systems (EPIC experience preferred)
- Strong communication, time management, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to adapt in a high-pressure, fast-paced critical care environment
- Experience with ECMO, Impella, or IABP devices
- CCRN certification (preferred but not required)
- Previous experience in a travel nursing or contract setting
