**Department/Program Description:** The Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages (DLCL)brings together scholars dedicated to the study and teaching of literatures, cultures, and languages from humanistic and interdisciplinary perspectives. The DLCL is made up of seven academic units: itself, the Departments of Comparative Literature, French and Italian, German Studies, Iberian and Latin American Cultures, and Slavic Languages and Literatures, and the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (CMEMS). The Division offers courses, degrees, and research programs that seek to think about and explore the diversity, complexity, and richness of these national and transnational linguistic and cultural spheres. Our staff supports about 70 graduate and 250 undergraduate students and 40+ faculty and lecturers spanning over 18 graduate and 18 undergraduate programs.
**Position Summary:** The DLCL is seeking an Events and Communications Manager to lead a team of three administrative associates and student and/or temporary workers who plan and execute events, coordinate building/office operations, website presence and publications. This position establishes standards and workflows, manages timelines, oversees and manages budgets, oversees content planning and updates for online and printed communications ensuring brand compliance and accessibility.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, this position provides complex administrative and operational support with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with frequently shifting priorities and many international visitors.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, an effective communicator with strong written and editing skills, and knowledge of Stanford's complex financial systems and policies. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service, excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills. As a collaborator with a variety of academic departments and business units, they will have an in-depth understanding of how the university and academic departments function and will be expected to develop and maintain knowledge of the Division's partnerships, priorities, and activities.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing, non-exempt exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need. This role requires substantial on-site work, 4 days per week, 9am to 6pm or 8am to 5pm, and occasional evenings and weekends.

· Plan and schedule calendar(s) without prior consultation, resolve calendaring conflicts, and arrange travel in compliance with unit, university, and sponsor policies.
· Create complex reports and spreadsheets which may utilize specialized software and systems. Make recommendations based on reports.
· Oversee and/or process a variety of complex financial transactions; produce, monitor, and reconcile budget statements; research, identify, and resolve discrepancies. May assist with capital or special equipment requests and/or vendor selection.
· Coordinate complex office moves. Plan and coordinate routine remodeling and renovations.
· Analyze and review material and extract pertinent information for briefing purposes.
· Positions at this level also include one or more of the following duties:
1. In conjunction with financial lead and/or principal investigator, assist with sponsored project research proposal submissions and post award administration.
2. Responsible for leading the administrative functions of a program or unit.
3. Perform human resources transactional support and/or faculty affairs support; coordinate or manage the visa process.
4. Serve as building coordinator.
5. Oversee or supervise day-to-day work of other administrative or support staff, student and/or temporary workers, including scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, reviewing work for quality, timeliness, and providing performance review input.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma and six years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
