Summary
Job Title: Respiratory Care Educator
Position Summary:
The Respiratory Care Educator serves as a clinical leader and educator, coordinating the professional development and daily operations of the Respiratory Care team. This role is responsible for developing educational resources, guiding clinical best practices, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring high standards of care. As part of the Patient Care Services leadership team, the Educator acts as a consultant to the clinical team and medical staff, supporting optimal patient outcomes and promoting a culture of safety, learning, and excellence.

Review and maintain department policies and procedures for compliance with state, federal, and The Joint Commission standards.

Support and coordinate initiatives related to patient safety, quality improvement, and accreditation readiness.

Serve as a clinical consultant to the department, hospital committees, and external professional organizations.

Lead and deliver annual competency training, monthly department education, and in-service programs.

Support staffing by serving as a charge therapist or direct care provider as needed.

Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

Maintain proficiency in all critical care and diagnostic procedures.

Lead the development and measurement of staff competencies and clinical development plans.

- MD from an Accredited Medical School - Required
- Board Eligibility or Board Certified in Gastroenterology with successful completion of a formal GI fellowship program
- In possession of or eligible for a Maryland Medical License without restrictions
- Current CDS license, DEA certificate
- BLS and ACLS
- EGD/colonoscopy preferred
- Ability to work in a team environment is required

This opportunity allows for consultative care of common and complex cardiovascular symptoms and disease in both a community hospital and outpatient practice setting. Eligible candidate will be responsible for some call coverage and will be included in equal weekday and holiday call rotation with other physicians of the practice.
Desired Candidate:
- BC/BE in General Cardiology.
- Completed a cardiology fellowship - 2025 graduates will be considered.
- Will order, perform and interpret appropriate tests, to include transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiogram, exercise treadmill testing and EKGs.
- Discuss diagnoses with patients, explain treatment options, and provide advice on medications, lifestyle and dietary changes, and other preventative measures.
- Work with and supervise cardiology PA-Cs, and collaborate with admitting medicine hospitalists, ED staff and intensivists.
- Remain up-to-date on current best practices, developments, trends, research, and technology.
- Maintain timely completion of patient encounter documentation and billing.
