**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Chicago location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for programming, setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic components made from castings, forgings, and stamped steel materials. This is a Monday through Thursday day shift role with overtime sometimes required on a Friday and/or Saturday. The CNC Machinist is expected to be able to program, read blueprints/CAD drawings, adjust offsets and change inserts, change out jobs with appropriate tooling, set-up and qualify first article parts. Supports the production requirements for all work cells. Prioritizes daily work based on Safety, Quality and Productivity requirements.

Capable of running small conventional machine tools (drill press, grinder, kick press, tumbler.) per instructions.
Capable of measuring parts utilizing micrometers, calipers, depth gages, height gage, etc.

**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Always has safety first in mind when working at Cardwell, uses all personal protective equipment as required. Ensures all equipment and forklifts are functioning per design and function. Shutdown equipment and stops operations in unsafe conditions, lockout/tagout when necessary.
+ Completes Red Flag Condition cards for urgent remedies to safety concerns and completes work orders to ensure timely repairs to equipment.
+ Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
+ Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
+ Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
+ Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
+ Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine or machine's program as required.
+ Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications and drawings.
+ Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data.
+ Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly through the use of calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, and indicators to verify dimensions to print.
+ Installs machined replacement parts in machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

We are seeking dedicated machine operators to join our team working on bag making lines. This role involves loading machinery with spools of paper, prepping rolls, gathering and setting up print plates, measuring hot melt, and setting up machines based on orders. Operators will be responsible for running machines, unclogging jams, performing minor troubleshooting, adjusting machinery, checking for defects, packaging orders, and verifying orders and pallets.

As a Machine Operator, your will be responsible to calibrate, operate and record errors for machinery that performs analysis of radiation detecting dosimeters. Responsibilities for Machine Operators jobs include:
· Operate machinery that conducts and produces analysis for radiation detecting dosimeters.
· Review machine generated data to validate analytic results.
· Execute standard work including routine machine operation, calibration, quality control, machine interventions, housekeeping, and work center clean out.
· Identify, evaluate, and correct anomalies in laboratory activities, and implement preventative measures to eliminate reoccurrence of anomalies
Required Qualifications for this Machine Operators roles:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Must be able to work overtime as needed.
· Must be able to perform basic statistical calculations and convert data to appropriate units.
· Experience with various office software programs (Word processing, Spreadsheets)
· Ability to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and or oral instructions.
