The Machine Operator is responsible for executing minor production setups and troubleshooting tasks to ensure efficient operation. **Responsibilities**

**What's a typical day as a Packaging Machine Operator? You'll be:**
- Operating assigned machinery consisting of servicing automated inspection equipment, monitoring equipment status, reintroduction of materials, manually palletizing inspected materials, and assuring a smooth flow of product.
- Performing manual visual, cosmetic, and physical inspection of material.
- Promptly escalating concerns to Lead and Manager/Supervisor as needed.
- Starting up equipment, making minor adjustments to machinery, removing jams, performing minor troubleshooting, and minor assembly/disassembly for cleaning purposes.
- Using material handling equipment such as motorized and manual pallet jacks, non-motorized lifts.
- Performing cleaning, housekeeping, and line clearance activities for assigned areas to maintain a cGMP environment.
- Performing batch record and GMP documentation entries.
- Maintaining records and/or logs as required in the performance of job responsibilities.
- Performing work requirements in a responsible manner, following SOPs, GMPs, and established safety procedures in accordance with OSHA requirements and guidelines.

Position Summary:
The basic function of the Machine Operator is to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Analyze work orders, work pieces, and blueprints to determine process, materials, equipment, and sequence of operations required to machine parts.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders and saws.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions, adjust machine controls as required and verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and blueprints by use of appropriate measuring devices.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

What You'll Do
- Operate industrial slitter or extruder machinery, including setup, monitoring, and shutdown
- Use tape measures, gauges, templates, and digital tools to verify dimensional accuracy
- Perform quality checks for surface defects, flatness, and conformance to specifications
- Maintain logbooks, input production data, and interact with PLC systems
- Load, thread, and align feedstock materials; install blades, spacers, lay-on bars, and sleeves
- Monitor gauges, temperatures, and material flow during production
- Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE use, and forklift operation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in production areas
- Communicate machine issues to supervisors and maintenance as needed
- Cross-train across departments with potential for Lead Tech advancement
What You Bring
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, construction, auto mechanic, or similar mechanical environment
- Ability to read and use a tape measure
- Comfortable working at heights and performing math with fractions
