Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Job Description:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to front-line workforce and production equipment.
- Supports Operations and Engineering with work relating to equipment and process performance.
- Works hands-on with manufacturing equipment and activities. Identifies and supports process improvements.
- Uses judgment, experience, and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports production line on a daily basis to help deliver yields, throughput and product quality.
- Trains and coaches other MM and Level 1 PAs on proper processes and procedures learned/identified from Eng or DMET.
- Utilizes Lean tools to reduce downtime, increase yields, and improve costs and product quality.
- Facilitates the sharing of learning's across shifts and across product lines.
- Works on equipment projects to reduce costs, downtime and/or defects and increase yields.
- Gives input into development and implements new equipment on the production line.
- Documents all work in Maximo.

Responsibilities for a **Maintenance Mechanic** include but are not limited to:
· Perform basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient manner, which supports the continuous improvement process within the facility.
· Set-up, adjust, calibrate, and operate equipment; perform layout and bench work; inspect, dismantle, repair, rebuild, assemble, weld, install and lubricate machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the manufacturing facility.
· Maintain daily work logs and update equipment and component records, and if applicable, electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System
Candidates for a **Maintenance Mechanic** must meet the following requirements to be considered:
· High school diploma or GED
· Entry level with little or no prior manufacturing production experience required.

**Principal Accountabilities:**
+ Completing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility
+ Operating standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools, preventative maintenance technology tools, etc.
+ Utilize and work with maintenance trades and components such as welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
+ Modifying or building equipment by reading and comprehending mechanical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals
+ Documenting completed work and the conditions found, utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary
+ Interacting regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork-focused environment
+ Operating forklifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts
+ Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
+ Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
+ Other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
+ Must be 18 years or older
+ Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
+ Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
+ Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
+ Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
+ Ability to work in confined spaces
+ Basic computer skills
+ Ability to work overtime including holidays, nights, weekends, or different shifts with advance notice
+ Demonstrate experience in 1 or 2 maintenance trades and components (ex. electrical, welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience performing maintenance trades such as rigging systems, bearings, and lubrication.
+ Experience with safe work practices, such as Pre-Job Hazard Analysis (PJHA), confined spaces, job task permitting, etc.
+ Trade school certification or degree in a maintenance related field, or relevant military experience
+ Experience with precision maintenance, such as laser alignment and/or dial indication

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be part of the Maintenance Department supporting production operations. **Job Title:** Maintenance Mechanic
**Location:** Salisbury, NC
**Pay Range:** $17-27/hr based on experience
**Shift:** 1st shift Mon-Fri 6am-4:30pm; 2nd shift Mon-Fri 5pm-5am
**What's the Job?**
+ Provide repair services to all equipment, including modifications, upgrades, and development assistance
+ Complete daily checklists and work orders promptly and accurately
+ Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with breakdown repairs
+ Support preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance
+ Collaborate with team members to meet production standards and safety policies
**What's Needed?**
+ Must pass forklift training and be certified
+ Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, sprockets, and chains
+ Ability to work with hands, handle tools, and operate machinery safely
+ Good communication skills and ability to work well with others
+ Electrical experience, welding, or fabrication skills are a plus
