Job Summary:

The Manager of Fleet Maintenance manages the preventative, routine, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance of all vehicles and equipment for Hunter Mountain in a proactive, safe, and efficient manner; providing oversight of all maintenance and special projects as assigned by the Director of Mountain Operations and GM; providing the quality and service required, and maintaining the standards set forth by Vail Resorts. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and successfully lead experienced fleet mechanics, enabling the highest levels of execution and job satisfaction while working toward excellent team cohesion and effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire Hunter Mountain Resort fleet, which includes snow cats, snowmobiles, snow blowers, trucks, UTVs, heavy equipment, and other equipment to ensure optimal maintenance, utilization, and rotation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure a prioritized and cohesive process of vehicle and equipment repairs with rapid turnaround, and ensures that quality control procedures are in place and followed.
  • Manage and oversee all staff within the department, with a focus on hiring and training, the enforcement of policies and procedures, performance management, documentations, and safety procedures.
  • Provides training and leadership to staff. Develops and reviews training requirements for mechanics to keep pace with the maintenance requirements of new vehicles, snow cats, snowmobiles, shop tools, and equipment.
  • Develop and manage the departmental and capital budgets to ensure best possible levels of fleet readiness by preparing analysis and strategies to best develop capital requests for the optimal rotation and disposal of all equipment fleets. Develop and manage capital packets for all fleet related purchases.
  • Oversee and keep track of all fuel and fluid transactions. Ensure compliance, safety, updated training, OSHA, Hazmat, SDS, and fuel storage readiness for a year-round operation.
  • Primary point of contact for all essential fleet related vendors and internal customers to ensure strong support.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and help with effective communication with the fleet maintenance team.
  • Ensure close partnership with our grooming operation to best support operation of the fleet and resort grooming goals.
  • Ensure compliance with VRI Company polices with regard to property loss, workers compensation, regulatory compliance, industry best practices, and VRI equipment operation polices.
  • Directly manage goal setting, development plans, and performance management for all departmental staff.
  • Coordinate scheduling for all employees to keep the shops open seven days per week, when needed.
  • Drive the fleet maintenance culture and the overall Vail Resorts culture to create optimum engagement of employees--providing the experience of a lifetime for our staff and ensuring that they provide it for our guests.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders outside the sphere of direct reports.
  • Direct and oversee the allocation of all equipment to various departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of six years of experience in fleet Maintenance
  • Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience with strong management skills.
  • Valid New York Drivers License
  • Strong knowledge of desktop computer and applications – Microsoft office applications
  • Strong English communication skills including verbal & written
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Fleet Maintenance operations in regard to scheduling and tracking of work.

Preferred:

  • Strong organizational experience in relation to fleet tracking and work scheduling
  • Some college experience 

The expected pay range is $61,286 - $82,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

The in-resort Guest Services Manager will lead a location specific team and be responsible to execute the guest services strategy through strong operational excellence, workforce management and standardized service delivery. The role will report directly to the In Resort Guest Services leader and will be part of the in-resort leadership team. Job Summary

The Assistant Manager for Ski Patrol will assist in all aspects of coordinating Ski Patrol. Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the day-to-day operations of the ski patrol, overseeing all facets of guest service, guest safety, mountain safety, medical care, on-hill maintenance and chair lift guest evacuation;
  • Ensures that daily scheduling of staff is adequate and appropriate for necessary patrol operations;
  • Functions appropriately in the absence of the Ski Patrol Manager
  • Communicates with staff about daily assignments and expectations;
  • Successfully complete hiring paperwork, training assistance, and scheduling of seasonal patrollers within given timeframes;
  • Ensure accountability of patroller development by tracking the training performance and certifications within given deadlines. Provide coaching and feedback in a timely manner;
  • Assist with maintaining an updated patrol SOP documentation, manuals, and training tools;
  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regard to motivation, disciplinary and corrective actions, and documented mid and end of season reviews;
  • Facilitates and coordinates with other Mountain Operations departments on daily opening and operation of the resort;
  • Communicates with other departments with issues that might affect their operations; i.e. weather conditions that might affect ski school, food service, lifts, etc.;
  • Educates staff on safe workplace practices and actively works to minimize staff injury by conveying importance of appropriate decision making and risk reduction;
  • Assumes leadership role in major incidences including accidents, lift issues, special events, guest confrontations, or missing skier searches;
  • Oversees mountain maintenance issues including closures, slope and trail conditions, protective padding, and general appearance of ski area;
  • Provides management assistance for Mountain Safety team leaders with their staff as needed;
  • Represents management as an approachable, empathetic and responsive team in handling of issues that affect either personal life or professional life of staff;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • OEC certification;
  • 5 years patrol experience;
  • Must speak and write in English fluently;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Able to work weekends and holidays as required;
  • Must be able to ski/ride at a professional skier level in all snow and weather conditions, daily;
  • Be able to lift (and ski/ride with) a minimum of 50 lbs daily, if the opportunity presents itself;
  • Must have frequent ability to lift, stand, walk, sit, and maneuver in all climate conditions on mountain;
  • Must have full dexterity of hands and fingers to feel and maneuver in cold temperatures;
  • Ability to reach with hands/arms;
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in all weather conditions;
  • Ability to communicate with our guests verbally - listening and talking in a calm manner;
  • Must have good vision (corrected or not corrected) – with ability to see up-close, in the distance, peripheral, depth perception and have the ability to adjust focus.

Preferred:

  • Preferred least 1 year of supervisory experience; 
  • NSP Senior or Certified and/or NSP Instructor status;
  • College degree.

The expected pay range is $27.00 - $34.00 ourly. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
