Play a leading role in datacenter site selection and technical due diligence at Amazon. You will lead technical site due diligence projects, partnering with stakeholders across the AWS infrastructure organization, to shape the future of AWS’ infrastructure growth and investments.

You will play a key role in site selection and site due diligence for new and existing AWS regions. You will scope the technical studies and analysis required to appropriately evaluate prospective datacenter sites, hire and oversee the work of engineering and technical consultancies, understand the inter-relationships between technical disciplines, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and interpret the results of this analysis to make site acquisition, design, engineering, and technology recommendations. You will evaluate the impact of identified site risks and constraints on development costs and schedules.

The right person for this role will have a strong track record of technical program management, the demonstrated ability to deliver multiple high priority projects simultaneously, the ability to drive alignment across teams with competing priorities, and be a strong advocate for technical risk management.

As a Pre-Construction Manager you will support the development and implementation of design standards across regional construction programs. This role will serve as the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering and other critical partner teams during initial planning, conceptual design, schematics progress, and design development; providing cost, schedule, and constructability guidance.

Our goal is to find the candidate that has highly developed critical facility pre-construction knowledge coupled with extensive practical construction experience to drive standards in this essential part of our delivery process. If you have experience driving pre-construction standards, bid documents including the plans, specifications and general requirements to describe all the elements of a construction project and working within a broad design and construction infrastructure environment, then you could be the right candidate.

Detailed knowledge of critical data center equipment (Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers, Power Feeders, Chillers, Plumbing, Fire Detection/Suppression, Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling/Conditioning Units, UPS, CRAH, CRAC).
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.
• Drive practical constructability standards in design documentation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market. he Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team is a project management and execution team that manages construction activity within the operational data center spaces. The CPI team is tasked with critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers around the globe. These activities are outside of the scope of standard construction delivery and regular preventative maintenance tasks.

The CPI Team is seeking a Manager to oversee a team of Data Center Project Managers and serve as a liaison between our internal operational and business customers. Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers and possess the ability to develop and deploy innovative solutions to address team challenges. This role requires a hands on approach to management that starts with understanding the problem and working with customers and partners to solve it. The candidate will have a high bar for quality, must have written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to leverage data to drive improvements within their team. The scope of projects that the team will manage include improvement of electrical, mechanical, fire systems, and building automation systems. A fundamental understanding of these systems is required, as the manager will be expected to technically understand the work the team executes on a regular basis.

You will be required to manage the project workload and throughput of your team, prioritizing projects based on the impact to the business. You will be responsible for developing and sharing metrics that pertain to the team’s deliverables as well as managing the teams’ results against established deadlines.
