General Description:

The QA/QC Inspector plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties. The QA/QC Inspector will represent ACCO and its subcontractors for pipe and equipment installation, welding inspection and oversight of subcontractor installation and quality. The QA/QC Inspector will participate in the General Contractors project quality program documenting installation activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether the product has been vetted by ACCO for future purchases from the vendor.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies, codes and procedures.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of codes and specifications for current industry quality standards.
  • The quality team may assign other duties.

Secondary Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical information and reports to team members and management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site QC Supervisor or QA/QC Director in conjunction with the project team.

  • Seeking at least 5 years of experience in Quality Control with a minimum of 3 years focused on ASME B31 piping codes, industrial and commercial construction, fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, and/or other similar fields.
  • Current certification in accordance with AWS QC-1 as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and /or ICC Mechanical - Commercial Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Hours:

Competitive Wages:

$38.29 to $48.14 Per Hour. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of quality assurance methodologies within the aerospace sector, and a proven track record of identifying and rectifying potential defects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods using a variety of precision measuring instruments and testing equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to verify compliance with design requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and standards in accordance with AS9100 and other relevant aerospace quality management systems.
  • Perform statistical process control (SPC) analysis to monitor and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Document inspection and test results accurately, maintaining detailed records for traceability and auditing purposes.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and management teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor junior quality inspectors, providing guidance on inspection techniques and standards.

  • Stay current with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting aerospace quality control.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control inspection, specifically within the aerospace or defense manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical documentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of AS9100 standards and quality management systems.
  • Experience with various inspection tools and equipment, including CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances if required.
