Job Summary of the Director, Quality Control

The Quality Control Director is responsible for the oversight of all Quality Control Laboratory functions, activities, and personnel at the Axogen Processing Center (APC) and associated contract laboratories. This includes all analyses done on donor tissue, raw materials, and in process, product release, environmental monitoring, and commercial product stability samples. Additionally, the Quality Control Director builds and maintains collaborative work relationships with APC and company Operations, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Regulatory leaders to drive cross-functional planning and decision-making regarding Quality Control Laboratory operations and process improvement.

Requirements of the Director, Quality Control

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or other sciences related field.
* Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant industry experience.
* Minimum of six (6) years QC supervisory experience (hiring and coaching associates and supervisors).
* Strong laboratory skills (microbiology, histology, and incoming quality control).
* Experience in the validation and transfer of analytical methods from/to R&D and/or contract laboratories.
* Experience working in sterile processing environment.
* Experience working in an FDA or AATB regulated industry.
* Strong skills in communicating technical and scientific information.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities of the Director, Quality Control

The specific duties of the Director, Quality Control include but are not limited to:

* Leads the APC Quality Control Laboratory, including organizational design, operating budget, personnel recruiting, and employee technical and behavioral competency development and training.
* Collaborates across the company representing the Quality Control Laboratory, engaging with stakeholders and business partners in both a technical and management leadership capacity.
* Ensures the Quality Control support strategy for the APC site is technically sound and in alignment with business objectives and quality/regulatory requirements. Owns key laboratory QMS processes, including deviations, CAPA actions, implementing compendia changes, technical problem solving, and monitoring operational results via trend analyses.
* Creates an environment with strong team spirit, timely and effective communication, sense of urgency and high motivation, and inspires Quality Control team members to achieve short and long-term goals.
* Sets an expectation of achieving outcomes, continuous learning, and shared accountability; champions a mindset of inclusivity, speaking up, and coaching others.
* Takes proactive measures to promote a positive safety culture and ensure all applicable safety, health and environmental requirements are met in accordance with company policies.
* Embodies Lean principles and methodologies and promotes a continuous improvement culture throughout the Quality Control organization by encouraging experimentation and learning.
* Provides laboratory oversite regarding Out of Specification results and associated investigations, both with internal and external contract testing laboratories.
* Represents the Quality Control Lab during regulatory inspections and internal audits.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Act and resolve problems adversely affecting schedule while working towards continuous improvement in the production/manufacturing shop
  • Reads, interprets, and follows pass downs, work orders, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Support department processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and promote rules and safety practices
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized and participates in training, safety, quality programs, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Ensure inspections are conducted with relevant instructions and procedures that may be established for a particular product or project, including fabrication and electrical integration.
  • Ensure that the assembly or production line adheres to standards, procedures, and comply with legal requirements
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Supports training the production and quality team on control measures to improve product excellence.
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and attending regular training.
  • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data
  • Support in the development of test methods and inspection plans and determining the causes of product defects and reworks, maintain calibration schedule and update measurement equipment log file
  • Support with energizing electrical equipment up to 480VAC, and or 125VDC and perform functional tests as required, and coordinate, support customer Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one year of experience with electrical or fabrication inspection and testing, and/or relevant on the job experience required
  • Understanding of the basics of electrical components required
  • Understanding of the basics of electricity required
  • Understanding of organization, planning, and scheduling required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required
  • Keen attention to detail required
  • Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications required
  • Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, meters, calipers, and computers required
  • Understanding of quality assurance procedures and processes required
  • Understanding of target market and consumer needs required
  • Blueprint and electrical schematic reading capabilities required
  • Documentation and reporting skills required
  • Teamwork and collaboration required
  • Growth mindset with the ability to accept challenges required
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check required
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more required
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four plus hours at a time required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three plus years’ experience with electrical inspection and testing preferred
  • An AS or BS degree in Engineering preferred
  • Up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and industry standards, UL codes and best practices required
  • Underwriters Laboratories (UL) MTR Certification for UL508A and or UL891
  • OSHA10 or OSHA30 Certification
  • Experience with State Certification process preferred
  • Understanding of welding methods
  • Experience in an ISO environment preferred
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector Certification preferred
  • NACE Coating Inspector Certification preferred
  • NETA Certification for Electrical Testing preferred

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Quality Control Inspector to ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and project specifications. This role involves inspecting electrical installations, components, and systems to verify quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical codes, testing procedures, and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of electrical wiring, panels, and components to ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes.
  • Perform quality checks on electrical systems, including voltage testing, grounding verification, and continuity testing.
  • Identify and report defects, deviations, or safety concerns and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to verify correct installation.
  • Maintain detailed inspection reports, test records, and documentation of findings.
  • Collaborate with electricians, engineers, and project managers to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct audits and recommend process improvements to enhance overall quality control.
  • Train and guide technicians on quality assurance procedures when necessary.
