The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. **Purpose of the Position:** Provide quick response manufacturing support triggered by Operations feedback as well as product quality data. Overall mission of a MET technician is to optimize the Safety, Product Selects and Equipment Utilization associated with the manufacturing of Optical Fiber. Identifies and supports process improvements. Uses judgment, experience and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations. **Day to Day Responsibilities:** + Help department achieve Safety and Lean goals. + 2nd point of contact to provide 2nd and 3rd level electrical/controls/mechanical/equipment troubleshooting of production equipment issues. + Responsible for monitoring area performance, identifying equipment/process issues, and following issues to closure. + Manage multiple troubleshooting issues utilizing sound technical principles to drive resolution. A Sterile Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the manufacturing of sterile liquids for commercial distribution and clinical trials. Personnel in this position will support the production operation by handling aseptic cleaning and specializing in more than one of the processing areas (cleaning, formulation, aseptic filling, equipment preparation, terminal sterilization, etc). This includes but is not limited to operating manufacturing processing equipment by following standard operating procedures and batch records in accordance with FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices. In addition, personnel in this position will employ above average mechanical aptitude and acceptable aseptic techniques while working in controlled and classified environments, some of which require complete aseptic gowning. Personnel in this position will provide support in inspection and packaging areas as required.

* Troubleshoots a majority of basic machine issues and reaches out for maintenance support when needed in order to meet production timelines.
* Serves as setup mechanic for all area specific filling equipment.
* Has mastery of multiple aseptic processing concepts and steps including aseptic cleaning, equipment preparation for sterilization, product pathway assembly, sterile filtration, aseptic filling and terminal sterilization
* Possesses competitive, detailed oriented production mentality and is not satisfied by anything less than perfection.
* Provides training to other operators.
* Follows written procedures.
* Clearly and accurately document activities in batch records and logbooks.
* Performs basic math calculations.
* Performs in-process weight checks and component counting.

**Purpose of the Position:**

**Day to Day Responsibilities:**
+ 1st point of contact to provide comprehensive electrical/controls/mechanical/equipment troubleshooting of production equipment issues.
+ Responsible for monitoring area performance, identifying equipment/process issues, and following issues to closure.
+ Simultaneously managing and troubleshooting multiple issues using sound technical principles to drive resolution
+ Support Preventive Maintenance and equipment upkeep efforts.
+ Directing maintenance personnel in the repairs, maintenance, testing, installation, and debugging of equipment.
+ Work with a variety of groups including operators, other support technicians, engineers, and trades to coordinate and direct equipment startup, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes.
+ Contribute to keep production teams current on processes, equipment, and procedures.
+ As needed, develop, document, and deliver training packages for new or modified equipment to production and support groups in the plant.
+ Assisting engineers in the design, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation of new or modified production equipment.
+ Maintain the systems and actions necessary to ensure compliance with department certification programs, quality system audit program, and ISO 14000 registration.
+ Champion a safe work environment and help enforce all housekeeping and safety regulations.
+ Participate on a trained spill team for the Glass Making areas, monthly spill drills, and projects
**Requirements:**
+ Two year electrical/mechanical/or controls technical degree preferred (Associates) OR High school diploma and 5+ years manufacturing experience.
+ Experienced in troubleshooting and repair of electrical and pneumatic controls including use of test equipment.
+ Experienced in troubleshooting and repair of simple to complex mechanical equipment.
+ Familiarity with sensors, thermocouples (TCs), switches, motors, and actuators.
+ Ability to read/understand electrical, mechanical drawings, and machine specifications.
+ Familiarity with PLC fundamentals as well as to work through logic for troubleshooting.
+ Computer literate and understands Microsoft windows to locate files, edit, save, transfer, etc.
+ Sound decision making and prioritization skills.
+ Ability to communicate with all levels of the plant organization.
+ PC proficient (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Passdown).
**Desired Skills:**
+ Capable of using Diagnostic equipment.
