POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and maintain production tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Provide input for capital investments and execute new equipment implementation projects.
  • Analyze production workflows and recommend process improvements using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Optimize production layout to improve flow and efficiency.
  • Support new product introductions by developing and validating manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, quality, supply chain, operations) to ensure smooth production transitions.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Identify root causes of manufacturing issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor production metrics and lead initiatives to improve yield, throughput, and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field or High School diploma with minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role (entry-level candidates may be considered for junior roles).
  • Prior experience with Engineered to Order products. Switchgear, switchboards, or similar products are preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems. Oracle NetSuite is preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment: This position primarily operates in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to machinery, equipment, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Design and improve assembly/test processes and tooling.

Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
+ 5+ years in manufacturing or assembly engineering.
+ Proficient in CAD (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP/MRP systems.
+ Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
+ Knowledge of OSHA, ISO, and other manufacturing standards.
+ Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power BI.
+ Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen preferred.

Job Description: Manufacturing Assembly Engineer
The Manufacturing Assembly Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting assembly processes to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing. This role will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering team members, as well as production, assembly, testing, and quality teams, to optimize workflow and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. The engineer will identify areas of waste, inefficiency, or quality issues and implement corrective actions, working with the Assembly Manager for implementation.
Responsibilities
+ Design, document, and improve assembly, and test processes, tooling, and work instructions.
+ Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
+ Conduct time studies and ergonomic assessments to improve workflow efficiency.
+ Provide daily technical support to assembly teams to resolve production issues.
+ Train manufacturing and assembly technicians on new processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
+ Maintain accurate documentation for assembly processes, including work instructions, SOPs, and checklists.
+ Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products.
+ Develop assembly plans, tools, and equipment for new product launches.
+ Specify, design, and procure jigs, fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment.
+ Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
+ Work with suppliers to develop custom solutions for production needs.
+ Partner with the Manufacturing Quality Control Engineer and other Industrial Engineering team members to ensure products meet all specifications and standards.
+ Implement corrective actions for quality issues identified during production.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
+ 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or assembly engineering.
+ Strong understanding of assembly processes, tooling design, and manufacturing workflows.
+ Proficiency in CAD software (NX CAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
+ Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing processes.
+ Attention to detail and analytical thinking with data-driven decision-making skills.
+ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for both technical reporting and team collaboration.
+ Project management skills to coordinate process and quality improvement initiatives.
+ Knowledge of safety regulations and manufacturing standards (OSHA, ISO, 3A, etc.).

**About the role:**
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for one or more production cells with a focus on maintaining and improving quality of first pass yield. Work with global engineering teams to bring new products to production. Develop new processes and fixtures to improve safety, ergonomics, and production efficiency. Perform manufacturing testing on revised components to validate their use in the manufacturing process.
This position is part of the Operations Team located in Wood Dale, IL and will be on-site.
In this role, you will:
+ Drive sustainment of manufacturing and identify opportunities to improve quality
+ Maintain production lines to meet on time delivery goals of products
+ Work with the quality team and suppliers to identify root cause of component failures and countermeasures to improve part quality
+ Develop production cell layout, required fixturing, and standard work for new production lines
+ Work with new product development and maintenance of line engineering teams to qualify new and revised parts
**Are you qualified?**
+ 5 years working within and engineering or manufacturing environment
+ Batchelor's degree in Engineering (required), mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing engineering background preferred
+ Knowledge of engineering design and drawings, manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques (required), knowledge of part fabrication techniques such as casting, molding, and machining, and typical materials preferred
+ Experience and exposure to various production and operations procedures and problem-solving techniques
