The primary function of this role is to lead continuous production improvement and preventative maintenance while providing strong engineering principles. We specialize in commercial doors, frames, hardware, cameras, and access control systems for projects throughout Iowa and the surrounding states. This is a full-time position which reports to the Director of Manufacturing.
Job Description:
- Manage production machines including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and improvements This includes the CNC Machines, Dust Collector, Vacuum Lifts and Welders
- Manage projects including design project requirements, scope, schedule and stay within budget
- Lead and participate in ongoing continuous improvement efforts and problem solving
- Evaluate suggestions
- Project management, milestone reporting and value analysis are key components.
- Analyze and plan space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspaces for maximum efficiency
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase and service of equipment, materials, or parts
- Train and certify operators
- Create templates, jigs, fixtures, and check gauges to ensure the finished product meets quality specifications
- Responsible for documenting processes and procedures related to assigned role responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience supporting a manufacturing operation
- Ability to suggest and execute improvements to processes and procedures
- This is a “hands on” position requiring substantial time on the production floor working with team members, inventory, and production equipment
- Enjoy problem solving and troubleshooting
- Positive, initiative-taking and solution-focused attitude
- Committed to excellence in communication, cleanliness, organization, and follow through
- CAD experience is preferred
- Prefer candidate with equipment repair and/or manufacturing experience

- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Design, specify, and commission new manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Lead process improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production) to solve manufacturing challenges.
- Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects for new manufacturing technologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in all implemented processes.
- Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations.
- Stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on process improvement and automation.
- Proven experience with robotics, PLC programming, and industrial automation systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
