Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for a combination of manufacturing engineering tasks and overseeing production during off-shifts.
This role involves collaborating with manufacturing and production support leaders to review floor performance, facilitating planning, scheduling, setup, and running of manufacturing activities.
The position requires leading the distribution of materials and maintaining labor and material requirements to meet daily schedules.

+ The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in an automotive manufacturing environment and availability to support the manufacturing teams
+ Approx. 70%-80% hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.
Shifts
+ 2nd shift (2pm-10pm)
+ 3rd shift (10pm-6am)
+ Expectation to start work 30 minutes early or stay 30 minutes late for shift handoffs
Responsibilities
+ Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes, recommending improvements, and expediting material flow and work results.
+ Improve manufacturing process workflow by analyzing delays, testing new methods, and eliminating stoppages.
+ Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries.
+ Maintain process flow by communicating production status, requirements, and problems to the next shift.
+ Comply with union terms and maintain a working relationship with union members.
+ Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment by adhering to organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations.
+ Contribute to manufacturing processes and organizational success by overseeing manufacturing outcomes, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.
Essential Skills
+ Engineering Degree or equivalent leadership experience with cross-functional engineering responsibilities.
+ Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
+ General understanding of assembly or machining processes.
+ Leadership or supervision experience.
+ High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
+ Enthusiasm for hands-on work on the manufacturing floor.
Work Environment
The team includes three other engineers as part of a larger group of 35 individuals.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr.

We’re looking for a proactive, floor-present Manufacturing Engineer to help bring order to complexity across a high-variation truck body manufacturing operation. With a wide variety of customer specs and semi-custom product lines, this role is all about solving for variability, stabilizing production, and building standardized processes that actually work on the floor.

You’ll partner directly with welders, fabricators, assemblers, painters, and supervisors to streamline flow, write clear SOPs, and resolve production issues in real-time. From fabrication to paint to final assembly, you’ll have a hand in every department and the autonomy to drive meaningful change across the shop. • Process Development & SOPs: Create and document standard work procedures that reflect real-world production variability; train operators and ensure consistent application across shifts.
• Shop Floor Troubleshooting: Provide daily hands-on support across the line; identify issues, investigate root causes, and implement quick-turn and long-term countermeasures.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with fabrication, assembly, paint, decal, materials, and engineering to ensure build accuracy, reduce waste, and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Time Studies & Optimization: Conduct time studies and work measurement to improve labor efficiency, validate staffing levels, and inform layout changes.
• Build Complexity Reduction: Analyze customer options, BOM variation, and order mix to help drive toward simplified processes and repeatable build sequences.
• Fixture & Tooling Evaluation: Support selection, specification, and procurement of tooling and equipment in partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Material & Sheet Optimization: Collaborate with programming and engineering to maximize sheet utilization and material efficiency using nesting software.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Use statistical tools to track baseline metrics, justify improvement initiatives, and report progress on key projects.
• Change Implementation: Lead pilot builds for product changes and drive rollout of engineering updates with production teams.

What You'll Work On

• This is an entry level position is in the Powder Packaging department concentrated in the filling process.
• Operate fillers, seamers, and other equipment/systems associated with the filling of containers.
• Tracking the use of commodities such as scoops, cans, and ends.
• Conduct routine quality inspections of product in production.
• Ensure proper batch work order documentation is completed.
• Complete housekeeping tasks by following applicable sanitation procedures.
• Execute scheduled production line cleaning activities.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
• Forklift operations

Accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, SQF, along with any other applicable compliance standards as well as following all applicable Abbott policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Solid problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of food manufacturing experience
