**Job Description**
Manufacturing Engineer: Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

We are seeking a highly experienced **SMT Manufacturing Engineer** to lead and optimize our surface mount technology operations. The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of hands-on expertise in high-volume electronics manufacturing, with a deep understanding of SMT processes, equipment, and quality systems. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement, ensuring process stability, and supporting new product introductions (NPI).
**Detailed Description**
+ Support the company technology roadmaps and be up to date with the latest SMT industry trends and emerging technologies.
+ Lead the introduction, development, qualification and optimization of new products, equipment, processes and materials in SMT manufacturing.
+ Initiate new equipment evaluation, specification, selection and qualification (e.g., pick-and-place, reflow ovens, Plasma, AOI, SPI,.etc).
+ Lead new processes evaluation and characterization through comprehensive Design of Experiments.
+ Drive process improvements using Lean-Six-Sigma, statistical process control (SPC) and best known methodologies.
+ Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions.
+ Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFMEAs, work instructions, and control plans.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and new products introduction, development and flawless launch.
+ Ensure compliance with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) and ISO quality systems.
+ Support audits, customer visits, and technical reviews.
+ Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
**Physical Demands**
+ Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

**Typical Experience**

+ Proven expertise in SMT processes development and troubleshooting, (e.g. paste printing, pick and place, automated inspection, wave soldering.etc)
+ Familiarity with industry-standard equipment (e.g., Fuji, ASM, DEK, Vitronics, Koh Young).
+ Strong knowledge of quality tools (DOE, FMEA, 8D, SPC).
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

You will partner with and provide data and technical insights to global teams to ensure we consistently develop and deliver high-quality products. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Assemble, deploy, and improve manufacturing ATE test stations to support manufacturing of Generac CES Products at our contract manufacturer facility in Richardson, TX
+ Formally document test procedures, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and gauge repeatability & reproducibility reports.
+ Drive systematic troubleshooting, assist with root cause analysis, and champion long term improvement of our test equipment
+ Continuously improve uptime, cycle time, and yield of test equipment to enable production capacity ramps
+ Retrofit and upgrade test equipment when product changes are introduced
+ Implement automated processes to analyze data generated by test systems to identify anomalies, or predict upcoming failures
+ Utilize processes like FMEA to identify gaps in manufacturing and then design new processes to cover those gaps
+ Participate in new product design reviews to ensure Design for Testability (DFT)
+ Collaborate with global Generac teams of design, manufacturing, compliance, etc. as needed to optimize complex design and validation
Minimal Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial technology
+ 3-5 years related experience in the Engineering function within a similar working environment
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science
