**In this position.**
As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
**What you'll do.**
In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program - from initial concept through final assembly. This will involve the application of lean manufacturing principles to ensure the highest quality, most efficient processes and products possible. You will:
+ Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program, beginning at initial concept through launch at the final assembly facility.
+ Development of tooling and facilities based on product and process.
+ Apply lean manufacturing principles.
+ Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds.
+ Drive resolution of manufacturing issues.
+ Interface with Design and Release activities.
+ Develop formal assembly process instructions and enter the process sheets into VPS system.
+ Lead assembly tooling specification purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site.
+ Track all open tooling and process issues and drive to closure including meeting all exit criteria deliverables - cycle time, throughput, workstation readiness, etc.
+ Prepare management presentations.
+ Drive quality, cost and labor improvements.
+ Support new model launches. During launches, the position will require extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment.
+ Deliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective system. Understand component data and a system impact.
+ Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch.
+ Operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
+ Work with minimal direct supervision
**You'll have.**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering
+ Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)
+ Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.
+ 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
+ Up to 40-50% travel required

+ Solid background with virtual manufacturing tools
+ Experience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environment.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills
+ Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)

Essential Functions:
- Understand Koyo production departments, their functions, and tooling requirements
- Assist other departments with tooling-related issues
- Apply problem-solving techniques to reduce work time and costs
- Use trigonometry to calculate hole locations, compound settings, and tapers
- Design and build tools, jigs, and fixtures, including material selection
- Perform oil, water, and air hardening and proper heat treatment processes
- Conduct basic welding and brazing
- Perform shape grinding on surface grinders and properly use borazon and diamond wheels
- Maintain tolerances within specifications
- Train others as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 50lbs
- Work with precision tools in a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing Technician II
Performs general manufacturing production and non-production machine and equipment maintenance. Performs preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum up-time. Provides direction and training to associates on shop floor.
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
- Major responsibility will be managing high volume, highly automated assembly line complete with vision systems, pick-in-place robots, and error systems.
- Work with the processes, through the metrics of throughput, inventory reduction, scrap & rework tracking, and cost reduction to achieve objectives.
- Assist in the day to day production for the production cell including product delivery, and meeting customer expectations.
- Operate manufacturing equipment as required
- Maintain equipment through preventative maintenance and scheduled maintenance programs
- Create, maintain and promote all quality systems and procedures in compliance to PPT's QMS and ensure the quality of all manufactured components in the cell adhere to the standards
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized workplace/environment with 5S principles through training and audits
- Drive focus on safety as an integral part of the team’s day-to-day awareness and activities.
- Train other associates as required in all aspects production operations, quality and safety. Assure area of responsibility has sufficient cross training to accomplish objectives on a continual basis. Manage and administer the on-the-job training and certification program as required
- Assist in the coordination part movement through the cells including from logistics and to the customer in or out of the cell
- Assist in the daily communication between shifts including team members, Coaches, and other technicians
- Ensure accurate Production reporting for cell daily through measurable (pieces, scrap, OOE, etc.)
- Lead responsibility for ordering tooling and making sure all supplies are available to operate cell in efficient manner
- Set-up and changeover equipment and participate in machine qualifications at suppliers and in house
- Identify and utilize all resources required to meet department objectives by coordinating with support departments
- Machine alignment
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to prioritize while driving multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to identify, analyze, prioritize and solve complex issues and problems
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SPC and Lean Manufacturing Fundamentals
- Ability to train others using various avenues including classroom and OJT
- Ability to read and interpret Blueprints
- Strong ability to troubleshoot process related issues
- Understand process improvement
- Must have experience and understanding of Mechanical Systems
