This not your ordinary manufacturing role! We manufacture our own metal siding, trim, and roofing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge/experience will roll formers, slitters, trim breaks, etc., though not required!

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Lead will be responsible for leading a team of manufacturing associates, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, and meeting production targets while maintaining high quality standards and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, including assigning tasks or stations to meet and maintain productivity.

  • Plan and organize production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products while optimizing resources and minimizing waste in conjunction with the Planner and Inventory Control Associate.

  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and adjust as necessary to meet quality targets and address bottlenecks.

  • Monitors and addresses employee performance through feedback, corrective actions, and training.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all employees.

  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve any issues that may arise.

  • Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and productivity.

  • Train and develop employees to enhance their skills and capabilities and provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies, and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Three years manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Proven experience in an operations role with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

  • Proficiency in computers and simple mathematics.

  • Minimum one year forklift experience preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Summertown Metals of Hopkinsville offers competitive wages contingent upon experience and skills. Starting rate for this role is $18.00/hr.

Directs, administers, and coordinates all the activities of the plant operations to achieve safety, quality, cost and delivery objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensure plant team engages in team-work with corporate engineering, sales, and materials functions throughout the entire development and launch cycle of new products.
  • Promotes the utilization of root cause problem solving using Practical Problem Solving (PPS)
  • Manages and provides leadership to plant staff managers
    • Conducts daily staff meetings
    • Clearly assigns responsibility for issues
    • Requires departmental action plans
    • Ensures Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology is utilized
  • Cooperates with the GM to ensure plant compliance to SPI systems and procedures supporting:
    • IATF 16949 Quality standard
    • ISO 14001 Environmental standard
  • Ensures plant adopts and complies with corporate standardization initiatives
    • SLMS, Molding, Painting, Quality Systems, Maintenance Systems, Materials Systems, etc.
  • Assists the GM in plant Talent Development initiative to train and develop high potential employees for growth within SPI
  • As needed by the GM, understands and represents corporate management in matters of company philosophy, quality ethics, and personnel policies.
  • Manages overall plant manufacturing/support personnel activities, including hiring, promotion, demotion, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists the GM in managing plant customer relationships, including ensuring appropriate SPI to customer contact relationships are maintained.
  • Works with the GM to provide necessary resources to protect and maintain the facility at all times.
  • Ensures plant compliance to all local, state and federal government regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Works with Human Resources to assure a positive, constructive working environment built on honesty, fairness, integrity, and respect. Provides a working atmosphere conducive to good industrial and community relations.
  • Personally maintains plant floor focus, "go and see", engage with all shifts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years experience at a technical or management level. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, budgeting and costing, quality control procedures and human resource management techniques. 4 year degree or 7 yearsprogressive experience in a manufacturing environment

**Job Description Summary**

The Senior Turbine Airfoils Manufacturing Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise and leadership in the manufacturing and optimization of turbine airfoils. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, driving strategic process improvements, and collaborating with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure high-quality production, adherence to safety standards, and efficient delivery of turbine airfoils. The engineer will also lead troubleshooting efforts, implement complex process improvements, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards. This position requires up to 50% travel to support operations at Madisonville, Greenville, and Auburn sites. The role includes responsibilities for laser weld, laser ablation, creep feed grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes.
This position will require up to 50% travel to customer sites.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
+ Provide advanced technical support and leadership for turbine airfoil manufacturing processes, including laser weld, laser ablation, creep feed grinding, and EDM
+ Lead troubleshooting and optimization efforts for laser weld and ablation processes, ensuring precision and reliability in joining and material removal operations
+ Drive strategic improvements in creep feed grinding and EDM operations to enhance material removal accuracy and surface finish quality
+ Mentor and train junior engineers and manufacturing personnel on best practices and advanced techniques for laser weld, laser ablation, creep feed grind, and EDM processes
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex manufacturing challenges and improve process efficiency across all operations
+ Conduct root cause analysis and lead the implementation of corrective actions for quality or performance issues related to these processes
+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) priorities, with safety being the top priority
+ Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in these specialized areas
+ Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers to address technical concerns and ensure satisfaction
+ Document and report findings, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders, providing strategic insights and solutions
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in turbine airfoil manufacturing or a related field)
+ At least an additional 5 years of experience in turbine airfoil manufacturing or a related field
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ At least 10 years of experience in turbine airfoil manufacturing or a related field
+ Experience in manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, coating, and inspection
+ Experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions
+ Experience with lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, Standard Work, and Hoshin Kanri.
