**Program Summary:**

Our 18-month development program provides participants a full-time operational role, designed to improve their manufacturing skills and exposure to Saint-Gobain North America. Participants will be located at one singular manufacturing plant for 18 months and will be involved with quarterly travel to other Saint-Gobain manufacturing sites in North America. The time split between local site projects and EOM program activities is 80:20 respectively. Classroom-based E-learnings, hands-on action-based learning in operational environments as well as a plethora of networking opportunities, are just some of the activities in place designed to accelerate your career development and future career growth. These trainings and quarterly travel opportunities are a requirement for program completion and full participation should be given, except for extenuating circumstances. While start dates for EOM program participants may vary, program activities kickoff each year in July and end 18 months later in December of the following year. We have an opportunity for an Manufacturing Engineering Tech to be based in Columbus, GA. This position will work in the Shared Services engineering group and primarily be responsible for supporting special processes such as shot peening, PECM, coatings, and media finishing.
This is a 1st shift opportunity
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Provide engineering support for production operations including process support, troubleshooting, machine setup, and root cause analysis for special processes including shot peening, part marking, PECM, coating, and more.
+ Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.
+ Organize, maintain, and update tooling for special processes. This includes verification of identification, revision, and state of repair to maintain compliance and production readiness.
+ Organize, maintain, and update programs for special processes. This includes verification of header, revision, and output to maintain compliance and production readiness.
+ Interpret requirements to develop and maintain processes to manufacture parts and tooling to engineering drawing requirements.
+ Ability to assist in electronic work instruction creation for manufacturing use.
+ Interpret manufacturing inspection data to ensure product meets engineering requirements.
+ Be able to work in a team environment. Be able to handle multi-tasking duties.
+ Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S and continuous improvement programs by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent

+ 5 years technical experience
+ 3 year manufacturing experience
+ Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes or machines
**Qualifications We Prefer:**
+ Machine operating and setup experience

+ 2 year technical certificate or college degree
+ Proficient in MS Office Suite

**What You Will Do:**
Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing disks for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for a **Principal Thermal Process Manufacturing Engineer** to support the organization.
+ Evaluate controlled isothermal forging and heat treat process excursions to acceptance criteria (metchems). This role works closely with Engineering Source Approval.
+ Assist in root cause investigations for process excursions, interfacing directly with press operators, heat treat operators, supervisors, manufacturing engineers, maintenance, and operations leadership.
+ Pull and analyze data (time, temperature, strain rate) for isothermal forge processes and heat treat processes.
+ Examine testing results for mechanical properties (creep, tensile, stress rupture) and non-destructive testing (grainsize, etch, fpi, sonic inspection).
+ Develop knowledge of alloy specifications and heat treat specifications. Gain understanding of the role materials and processes play.
+ Execute automated metchem project at forge presses. Responsibilities include defining data to be collected, align press data, standardizing data collection, developing and testing auto metchem algorithm, and HMI development.
+ Work to develop automated paretos of metchem causes to help identify top drivers. Partner with forge and heat treat process manufacturing engineers to work projects to improve process capability and reduce excursions.
+ Attend daily and weekly meetings with materials and operations to ensure prioritization aligns with production schedules and to report status.
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, (material science, mechanical, manufacturing) or other closely related technical or physical science disciplines, combined with 8 or more years of relevant experience **OR** an advanced degree combined with 5 or more years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
+ With specific parts ownership, this role will drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple process steps that spans the full value stream of the parts.
+ Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL elements to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance.

+ Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures; maintain close liaison with operational departments, suppliers and/or customers to analyze and resolve issues.
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Bachelor's Degree and minimum 2 years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations or project/program management environment or a Master's Degree and minimum 1 years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations or project/program management environment. In lieu of a degree 10 years' experience in an engineering manufacturing environment will be considered.
+ Project management experience
+ Experienced in first article inspection
+ Proficient with CAD tools and create engineering blueprints using ASME Y14.5
+ Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles; experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6S, etc.)
