Our client, a leading global chemical group, specializes in performance additives and solutions for water treatment & lubricants, oil & gas and plastics, flame retardants and boasts a wide product range able to fulfil the requirements of the most demanding applications. They are looking to hire an experienced EHS Specialist to join their team in NE Ohio! This is a direct hire, full time, onsite position.
+ **Hours:** 1 st shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST
+ **Salary:** $85-95K (FLSA status - Exempt)
**Applicants should have at least three (3) out of five (5) of these qualifications:**
+ Experience with ISO 9001/14001 audits (spearheading and/or completing)
+ Experience with CARs and root-cause analysis.
+ Experience with Process Safety Management.
+ Conducting risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmental compliance
**_Position is 70% Environmental Health related tasks, with only 30% Safety related tasks._**
**Key duties include but not limited to the following:**
+ Work with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture and address concerns.
+ Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
+ Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and assess their impact on company operations.
+ Design and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure all employees are aware of EHS policies and procedures.
+ Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental incidents. Analyze findings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmentalcompliance. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
+ Oversee waste management and environmental compliance activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to integrate safety practices into daily operations and projects.
+ Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to EHS activities, including inspections, audits, and compliance reports.
+ Stay informed of industry best practices, trends, and technologies related to environmental health and safety. Recommend and implement improvements based on findings.
+ Communicate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement.
+ Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements.
**Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
+ At least three years of experience in environmental health and safety roles in an industrial manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite and EHS management software.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
+ Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental sustainability.
+ Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.
+ Relevant certifications a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE).
+ **_Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen._**

- Develop and maintain a program of policies, systems, methods and procedures for the effective management and control of the purchasing function to reduce costs and produce additional income within assigned commodities.
- Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives for contract transactions.
- Obtain data for cost analysis studies by determining manufacturing costs within divisions of company.
- Prepare reports, charts, and graphs of findings.
- Evaluate findings and make recommendations regarding feasibility of manufacturing or buying needed products.
- Recommend use of alternative parts, materials, or manufacturing methods to reduce costs.
- Order stock and nonstock supplies.
- Process requisitions, research products, clarify specifications, type purchase orders, follow up back orders, select vendors, and maintain up-to-date product information files.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
- Requires 4+ years of work experience in purchasing, preferably in manufacturing or construction-related industry.
