FRX of Ohio is seeking a Manufacturing Tech for our GP!

Summary of the Role: The Manufacturing Tech works within three areas of the production department and is part of the team responsible for dry/wet trim, harvest, and flower packaging cannabis material. Manufacturing Technicians ensure that the cannabis plant material is handled with care and trimmed efficiently, and in compliance with state regulations and Company SOPs.

Key Responsibilities: 

Harvesters-

● According to the harvest plan for the week, harvesters gather mature cannabis plants

from soil beds carefully and efficiently and transfer them to the Processing department

● Debone and move material into two areas, dry trim or wet trim.

Dry/Wet Trimmers-

● Manicuring harvested cannabis plant material carefully and efficiently to prepare it for

drying or to be sent for fresh/frozen material

● Trimming/manicuring dried cannabis plant material carefully and efficiently to prepare it

for final product packaging

● Ensuring there is no loss to the company while trimming

● Measuring and recording accurate weights for all cannabis plant material as it is

processed and transferred from harvest to storage (drying, freezing, or curing) to

prepare for final packaging.

Packaging-

● Assist with bottling, labeling, and other packaging functions while maintaining detailed

laboratory and inventory records

● Label containers, container tags, or products using the appropriate labels and tools

● Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products in order to ensure that packing

specifications are met

● Ensure that the packaging is compliant at all times

● Preparing products for the stores to ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner

● All other job duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to work within the OH MMCP
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Attention to detail and a quick eye
  • Ability to sit for 8 hours per day

Verterra Energy is seeking a New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer to work hand-in-hand with the engineering team to incorporate Design for Manufacturing principles into VOLTURNUS. The ideal candidate has experience creating build process diagrams, manufacturing documentation / work instructions, and cell design and layout. They can identify, design, and procure manufacturing equipment and tooling.

In this position, the NPI Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to numerous phases of product design, development, prototyping, manufacturing and operational support. This position will play a critical part in Verterra Energy’s novel modular hydropower technology development process and will transition successful concepts through prototyping and into production.

The successful candidate will have experience standing up a production line for a complete product, not just a component, and will have practical experience being the “glue” between engineering and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design-for-Manufacturing efforts
  • Work with Operations to create and implement production readiness infrastructure
  • Report progress, risks, and opportunities to the Program Manager and updates to the Leadership Team

They will perform dimension checks of stationary and rotating parts. They will clean up welds and perform visual weld inspections for all welded parts. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager. What you'll do Receive job assignments and instructions from the QA Manager or from the Sr. QC Inspector. Set-up inspection units, as required, including units for pressure tests for leak testing. Perform other specific inspection procedures as qualified and as directed. Check shafts and other machined items for tolerance, using micrometers, etc. Operate x-ray equipment and develop film. View x-ray negatives of weld joints per industrial code specifications. Complete an inspection checklist for every job inspected. Inspect fans before shipping to vendors for special coating and check finished job upon return. Strive to achieve CWI certification. Attend seminars to broaden knowledge of inspection requirements, equipment, and procedures. Set up and operate various production equipment and units as required. Perform other production duties as required. Perform or direct the fitting of wheels and shafts, ready for fitting, including the checking of shaft tolerances, finishes, dimensions, etc., as required. This team member will be assigned inspection procedures such as dye penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, visual, and magnetic particle tests. They will perform dimension checks of stationary and rotating parts. They will clean up welds and perform visual weld inspections for all welded parts. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager.

What you'll do
  • Receive job assignments and instructions from the QA Manager or from the Sr. QC Inspector.
  • Set-up inspection units, as required, including units for pressure tests for leak testing.
  • Perform other specific inspection procedures as qualified and as directed.
  • Check shafts and other machined items for tolerance, using micrometers, etc.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and develop film.
  • View x-ray negatives of weld joints per industrial code specifications.
  • Complete an inspection checklist for every job inspected.
  • Inspect fans before shipping to vendors for special coating and check finished job upon return.
  • Strive to achieve CWI certification.
  • Attend seminars to broaden knowledge of inspection requirements, equipment, and procedures.
  • Set up and operate various production equipment and units as required.
  • Perform other production duties as required.
  • Perform or direct the fitting of wheels and shafts, ready for fitting, including the checking of shaft tolerances, finishes, dimensions, etc., as required.
  • Perform or assist with welding inspections of wheels at various stages of fabrication.
  • Spot check or assist in spot checking weld inspections and fit-up of casings in various stages of fabrication.
  • Observe nondestructive test procedures in the shop and report any deviation from established procedures.
  • Checks wheels for straightness tolerances and that all necessary inspections are being performed, as required.
  • Check cleaning, fitting, and shipping preparation for proper procedure.
  • Check paint thickness and quality, as required.
  • Ensure that all required inspections have been performed and that the fan is available for customer inspection, when required.
  • Follow up on travelers, making certain that all appropriate notations have been made and that the final Quality Control approval has been indicated.
  • Accompany customers, as directed, when the customer's order requires plant inspection.
  • Attend production-scheduling meetings as required.
Skills and Knowledge
  • This position requires a certification in Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographical Testing as well as Visual Welding Inspection.
  • Knowledge of or experience in welding processes required.
  • This position requires the ability to follow specific inspection procedures utilizing related test and inspection equipment such as magnetic particle, ultrasonic, dye penetrant, x-ray equipment, etc. and to evaluate test results.
  • This position requires the ability as well as the manual dexterity to operate test and inspection equipment and to perform production activities in the assembly area.
  • This position requires the ability to read drawings.
  • This position requires the ability to climb on ladders, scaffolds, and tables.
  • This position requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • This position requires 3 years of experience in quality assurance.
  • Willingness to travel for production inspections.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs


Tools and Equipment

This position uses computers, micrometers, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and dye penetrant units, ultrasonic thickness gages, x-ray equipment and developing unit, paint thickness gages, cameras, x-ray viewers, taper gauges, various production equipment and miscellaneous hand and power tools. Tools to verify welding requirements specified on welding procedures such as amp/voltmeter, gas flow meter and wire speed meter. All types of wheels, casings, shafts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and finished products.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform all quality audits and tests and maintain appropriate records in accordance to current Quality Standards and Procedures, including incoming material audits, nonconforming material, shipping audits, first piece inspection, new tooling/fixturing inspection, and in-process audits.Perform regular calibration on measurement and tests equipment, as required, maintaining the appropriate records and documentation.Assist Engineering and Quality Teams in developing or modifying inspection procedures and processes, including interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and formulas to determine quality and reliability standards.Evaluate data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.Notify operator and/or supervisor immediately if changes are required to meet specifications.Provide assistance on SPC charts to monitor process control and product conformance.Assist operators in understanding charting techniques and quality expectations.Provide customer with documentation when requested and investigate customer related complaints and determine root cause with implementation of permanent corrective action.Escalate appropriate documentation to management and recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.Set-up and perform destructive and nondestructive testing on materials, parts or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.Provide a report of inspection findings for analysis and corrective action.Prepare required work instructions.Participate on Kaizen teams, as required.Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers.Skills/QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required. Technical or Associates degree, preferred.Three or more years of relevant quality experience working in a manufacturing environment, required.Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process and equipment.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).High level of proficiency with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Certificate or Training, preferred.Experience with FARO, or other CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.Experience with various quality processes including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAI) or First Piece Yield (FPY), Advanced Control Plans (CP).Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.Experience with calibration or measuring software.
