As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have a deep understanding of all assembly techniques and materials used to produce microwave hybrids, including substrate and die epoxy attach, wire bonding, and other processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Understand and apply your experience with J-STD-001 solder assembly, conductive epoxy attach of substrates and semiconductor die, gold wedge and ball-bonding, and seal / hermeticity testing.
- Design the sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tooling and other functions that affect product performance.
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency.
- Investigate hardware failures and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

The Manufacturing Engineer will primarily be responsible for resolving issues that occur in the manufacturing lines, coordinating the launch of new products/projects from prototype to production and support achievement of manufacturing targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity through daily management and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will develop, design, and lead complex engineering projects relating to manufacturing process development.
**Essential Functions** :
+ Design, develop and document manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
+ Use structured problem-solving techniques to investigate and countermeasure process and product failures, equipment failures, and quality issues, identify root cause and implement solutions
+ Design and develop tooling, fixtures, automation and testing equipment by applying knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes, product performance specifications, process acceptance criteria, and product /system testing.
+ Develop and implement process improvements related to cycle time reduction, capacity increase, cost reduction, and other activities by reducing/eliminating non-value-added activities.
+ Participate in new product design review and review/approve part drawings from engineering and support the transition of new products from Design Engineering to manufacturing.
+ Facilitate the implementation and sustainment of the various FBS tools to drive quality, reliability, delivery, and cost improvements on both sustaining and new production cells.
+ Act as customer advocate when addressing quality issues by utilizing problem solving techniques to drive to root cause / corrective action for any escapes.
+ Support the Engineering Change Order (ECO) system from generation through implementation.
+ Develop poka-yoke and fixturing strategies to be used in reducing process variation in assembly processes.
+ Perform first article inspections/qualification of internally machined and supplied parts as needed.

Working from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans utilizing manufacturing test development or diagnostic equipment performs functions such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly. Coordinates with engineers in the set-up and calibration of tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

The Packaging group, located at the Northborough Operations Center facility, is responsible for labeling and packaging of final drug product vials as finished product for sale and distribution to U.S., European and International markets in support of a global patient population. In the process of performing these functions, Packaging interacts with and receives support from the Quality Assurance, Materials Management, Facilities Engineering, Validation, Metrology and Manufacturing Technical Support groups. **Main Responsibilities:**
+ The candidate will operate, set-up, changeover and clean various automated and manual packaging equipment in strict accordance with SOP's, Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety policies/procedures.
+ Document production activities in batch records, log sheets, attachments and/or electronic Batch Records.
+ Follow operational procedures and both written and verbal instructions from the supervisor.
+ Perform manual packaging on an assembly line.
+ Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and move heavy objects (e.g., product vial cages, pallets of packaging materials).
+ Ability to stand for 3 or more hours while operating packaging equipment.
+ Identify and communicate process deviations to the supervisor.
+ Keep all training up to date and retrain prior to expiration date.
+ Work with hazardous materials (e.g., Isopropyl Alcohol, Butanone).
+ Work closely with various level manufacturing and support personnel in a dynamic and team oriented environment.
+ Routinely and safely handle high value product vials in various stages of packaging completion.
+ Use computer-based systems for timecards, e-mail and inventory management.
+ Performs general maintenance and repair as required on automated and Semi-automated machines used in packaging to ensure optimal operation.
+ Reviews, revises and follows operational procedures, follow both written and verbal instructions from the supervisor.
+ Periodically check and maintain flammables cabinet, satellite hazardous waste accumulation station.
**About You**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ This is a daytime position with occasional weekend work.
+ High School Diploma / GED.
+ 1-2 years working in a packaging, or equivalent manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated basic math skills and communication skills.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 2-3 years working in a packaging, or equivalent manufacturing environment.
+ Packaging operations require gowning consisting of hairnet, beard cover, lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, shoe covers and task specific personal protective equipment
