**The Role**
The Customer Care & Aftersales team is seeking a **Manufacturing Engineer.** This position plays a critical role in executing the reimagination of processing within CCA. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll drive large-scale automation and packaging optimization initiatives with a focus on robotics, automation, and product packaging technologies. You will work with cross-functional teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges, particularly those related to workstation design, material flow, and automated systems integration. Your decisions will rely on sound technical judgment within established practices and engineering standards.
This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced robotic and packaging technologies while supporting transformational change across the network.
**What You Will Do**
+ Support **large-scale capital projects** related to automation, packaging systems, and robotics.
+ Provide technical direction on **automation integration** , including robots, manufacturing equipment, and conveyance.
+ Drive **optimization of existing robotic and product conveyance systems** to improve safety, efficiency, and cycle time.
+ Create and maintain engineering standardized work and documentation.
+ Collaborate with outside vendors, integrators, and OEMs to define system capabilities and deployment plans.
+ Lead redesign of production areas, with a focus on **automated workstations** and material presentation.
+ Oversee installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment, including safety verifications (G-Comply).
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis and throughput improvement tools.
+ Coordinate machine runoffs and OEM supervision during equipment installs.
+ Conduct safety contract management (SCM), task planning, and observation tours to ensure a safe work environment.
+ Travel to support OEM build reviews, runoffs, and site installations as required (may include weekends or off-shifts).
**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**
+ 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, or warehousing.
+ Proven ability to design safe, efficient, and scalable operations, including robotic work cells, automated packaging lines, and material handling systems, with a strong emphasis on ergonomic workstation layout, risk mitigation (e.g., G-Comply), and throughput optimization.
+ Working knowledge of: Standardized Work (STDS), Line Balancing (APS). TIP and Indirect Labor Studies, and Throughput improvement tools and simulations
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and workstation/plant layout optimization.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

Performs basic professional manufacturing engineering and production assignments in support and under the direction of senior engineers and Management.

MANUFACTURING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets up, and programs CNC Lathes and Mills. Including but not limited to the following:
  • Changing of chucks, tool bar changes and touch offs, cutting jaws on lathe, indicating in tailstocks, checking for backlash, indicating in drills in lathe turrets, indicating and

  • Understanding of best practices for both machining and work holding techniques.

  • Performs capability studies, produce prototype parts, sample orders.
  • Creates and provides training books with detailed set-up instructions for manufacturing technicians.

SCRAP REDUCTION

  • Provide detailed scrap reports per work center
  • Coordinate / lead overall plant scrap reduction, with focus on priority work centers from upper management
  • Develop & implement action items against top scrap elements
  • Monitor effectiveness of scrap reduction items

PRODUCTION LINE ANALYSIS

  • Perform takt time studies per work center as needed
  • Compare real time production analysis versus Quote Model Criteria’s (tooling, cycle times, labor, etc.)

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two-year technical degree or 5 years’ minimum experience in manufacturing machining, and process position.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. IE root cause analysis are preferential.
  • Requires team-oriented leadership skills and continuing education/training mechanical engineering techniques.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

The Electrical Diagnostician is a key position to support the plant in achieving electrical first time quality (EFTQ) during steady-state production. + Create actionable items from electrical failures to enable issue documentation and follow up. Leads corrective action plans.
+ Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers. (Travel is required in this role)
+ Be the key contact for Final Process Repairman regarding training, troubleshooting vehicle issues, repair root cause entry into GSIP, Service Information schematic and other issues, Plant repair diagnostic tool (GDS2/MDI), and reporting systems. Coordinate training for repairmenon service diagnostic toolsvia Raytheon or applicable company.

This is a hands-on position in which you may work with periodic repairs and to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades.

+ Conducts machine failure root cause analysis and problem solving
+ Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems

+ Develops and supervises planning timetables and projects schedules

**What You'll Do:**
Our plants are the groundwork for GM and a hotbed of innovation. We need controls engineer interns to assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialist equipment.
As a Controls Engineer Intern, you would be accountable for controls engineering and electrical support for industrial manufacturing equipment. These tasks would teach you electrical root causing analysis and problem solving as well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. Quality and safety are extremely meaningful to us, so enforcing safe work practices is the highest priority and implementing objectives for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping, which means that you would have to investigate system and equipment problems and provide technical input in problem resolution.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Leads electrical projects including new or operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement
+ Participates in functional area plant meetings and related activities to represent engineering and to assist in reaching the plant's performance goals
+ Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for minor project activity
+ Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
+ Develops and monitors planning timetables and projects schedules
+ Coordinates and communicates the development of changes to improve conditions for the assembly process
+ Programming of manufacturing technology (PLC, robotics, HMI)
+ Analyzes product, process and technology to determine the best methods of manufacture
+ Assists in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes

+ Must be graduating between August 2026 and June 2028
+ Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
+ Must be willing to work in a plant environment

Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:
+ Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
+ Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
+ Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
+ Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes.
+ Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).

+ Must be graduating between August 2026 and June 2028
+ Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week

Job Title: Quality Control Electrical Distribution Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a Quality Control Electrical Distribution Designer responsible for performing quality control inspections on electrical overhead and underground distribution design systems for electric utility customers. This role involves correcting issues identified in design or managing expectations for designers to make necessary corrections by a set date. This is a hybrid position with flexibility in working from home and in the Flint, MI office.
Responsibilities
+ Perform quality control checks on distribution designs before submission to power utility clients.
+ Correct issues identified in design during quality control checks or manage expectations for designer corrections.
+ Set and manage timelines for design corrections and resubmissions.
+ Possibility to advance to a leadership role within the Quality Control team based on performance.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in power distribution design and quality control.
+ Familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and distribution construction & design standards.
+ Experience with QA/Quality Assurance or QC/Quality Control processes.
+ Experience writing process standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with electric utility companies such as Consumers Energy, DTE, AEP, Direct Energy, Atlantic Energy, Great American Power, Horizon Power and Light, Duke Energy, NIPSCO, or similar consulting firms.
+ Knowledge of GIS, LVD, Pole Inspection, Pole Replacement, Electrical Demand, Transformers, and related areas.
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment with the ability to work from any office location in Michigan or Ohio, including Detroit, Bay City, Flint, Grand Rapids, Taylor, Traverse City, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and more. Employees will work in the office three days a week and from home two days a week. The office environment is connected to the Utility Energy Division, which is experiencing growth and offers opportunities for career advancement.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $43.00/hr.
