POSITION SCOPE:
+ The position is responsible for providing daily leadership for departmental employees to improve safety and environmental compliance, quality, cost control, and production for the Utilities area.
JOB FUNCTION: _Job functions include but are not limited to the following._
+ Optimize Utilities department to support all areas in the most cost-efficient manner.
+ Liaison with other department managers as needed to improve communication around deficiencies.
+ Work with department OMC to ensure all critical work that could impact production, environmental, or safety is properly prioritized and executed.
+ Use six sigma and lean processes to implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime.
+ Sponsor employee ownership with supervisors and operators to assure the entire team is working to achieve the department objectives.
+ Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the production for the Power and Recovery area.
+ Manage department training matrix, training schedule, and operator qualification process. Update training materials as needed and schedule 3rd party training as needed.
+ Manage department operator scheduling.
+ Enter and update reliability events into the reliability database - work with engineering team to complete RCFAs and enter action items.
+ Create and manage the annual outage operational schedule - including lockouts and operational activities.
+ Create, implement, and monitor local KPI's for department.
+ Foster employee engagement initiatives.
+ Encourage a behavior-based safety process.
+ Review environmental compliance measures and ensure all compliance activities are taking place.
+ Preserve asset management systems for equipment performance and reliability improvement.
+ Promote ISO standards throughout department.
+ Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource department and Mill Managers.
Equipment:
+ Utilities consists of one power boiler, two bark boilers, one recovery boiler, influent and effluent water treatment system, non-direct evaporator system, five turbine generators, fire water system, five air compressors, and centralized control room for the entire mill.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
+ Five (5) years of supervisory experience in the pulp and paper industry.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
+ Bachelor of Science, Engineering; mechanical, electrical, and chemical preferred.

The Recycle Assistant Superintendent will provide strategic and tactical leadership to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost. The successful candidate will focus on safely improving productivity and reducing costs through process/equipment optimization and operator knowledge/skill improvement. In addition, this position serves as coordinator and key communicator between the shift supervisors, operating crews and maintenance leadership to ensure that required equipment and tools are available for a successful operation.

+ Manage reliability issues tracking system to facilitate, communicate, follow up, and accountability or recycle machine reliability and maintenance needs.

+ Support recycle machine outage as needed.
Required Experience
+ Ten (10) years previous experience with recycle machine operations.

This position is accountable for installing discipline in the sales process through EOS management tools, driving quoting efficiency and quality, and partnering cross-functionally with Planning, Operations, and Marketing to ensure successful delivery and profitable growth. The Sales Manager will later be expected to build and lead an Outside Sales function as the company transitions from primarily organic growth into proactive new market development.
- Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable (LMA) Inside Sales and Project Management teams (10–11 employees).
- Conduct weekly EOS L10 meetings, set rocks, manage scorecards, and ensure accountability to performance metrics, including collaborative development of said metrics.
- Coach team members across multiple generations, addressing performance gaps and motivating diverse workstyles.
- Oversee, review and completion of complex multi-line-item quotes (100–300+ parts per job).
- Ensure quoting accuracy by applying cost models, overhead rates, routings, machine burdens, and capacity trade-offs.
- Present quote rationale to leadership, including financial impact and risk considerations.
- Reduce quote cycle time while maintaining or improving quality.
- Act as a credible, customer-facing representative during tours, onboarding, and issue resolution.
- Partner with Marketing to identify and target new markets, diversify customer base, and reduce concentration risk.
- Capture and accurately translate customer requirements into quotes and production commitments.
- Communicate company capabilities to external audiences in a professional, consultative manner.
- Work closely with Planning, Operations, and other leaders to align sales with production capacity and lead times.
- Make make/buy and outsource decisions in partnership with Operations.
- Closely develop pricing strategies with management around organizational value alongside market conditions.
- Co-develop annual sales budgets, forecasts, and departmental budgets with leadership.
- Track performance against goals and adjust strategies to meet company revenue and margin objectives.
- Prepare reports and analysis using Excel and ERP (Fulcrum).
- Phase 2: Build and manage an Outside Sales team, adding hunter mentality, proactively seeking target customers and markets.
Requirements
- 7–10 years in sales management, estimating, or project management within metal fabrication, sheet metal, custom fabrication, or closely analogous discrete manufacturing industry.
- Direct experience leading teams of 8–12+ employees across inside sales, quoting, or project management.
- Proven ability to handle complex quoting and pricing of multi-step fabricated products.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel for reporting, quoting, and cost analysis.
- ERP experience (Fulcrum preferred; others acceptable).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD viewers, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Strong financial literacy with proven ability to explain P&L impacts of pricing decisions.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering, Industrial, or Business). Equivalent work experience acceptable. Industrial/Continuous Improvement/Engineering background a plus.

Job Responsibilities
General
- Provide support to manufacturing, internal departments, senior management, sales, and external customers
- Communicate technical results, problems, and potential solutions to senior management
- Troubleshoot and resolve formulation problems
- Investigate and resolve product quality issues and/or customer complaints
- Maintain formulation records, batch sheets, performance data, and testing documentation
- Review and approve product labels and technical specifications
- Support the integration of new aerosol lines, propellant systems, and filling methods
- Lead and develop lab technicians, QC and compliance staff members
- Serve as the technical expert/liaison between departments and senior leadership
Product Development & Formulation
- Lead R&D efforts to formulate and develop new aerosol products of moderate to high complexity to include room sprays, industrial aerosols, and specialty formulations
- Review existing formulations for cost, performance, and regulatory compliance
- Evaluate raw materials, propellant systems, and componentry for formulation stability and performance
- Oversee lab testing for spray pattern, fill weight, shelf-life, packaging compatibility, and VOC content
- Collaborate with senior leaders on new product, process development and improvements of product line
- Identify formula adjustments, additions/deletions to products
- Ensure all products meet internal and external regulatory requirements including, but not limited to EPA, FDA, DOT, OSHA, CARB, TSCA, and any international standards
- Review and approve COAs, batch records, and specification sheets.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, technical data sheets, formulation records, and regulatory documentation
- Manage product registrations and coordinate with regulatory consultants or authorities as needed
- Serve as ARI’s point of contact (POC) for regulatory audits and/or customer compliance reviews
- Oversee product testing, quality control, and analytical validation procedures.
- Develop and enforce all QA/QC protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for production batches
- Approve incoming raw materials and packaging components for use in production
- Collaborate with operations to optimize line performance, reduce waste, and troubleshoot fill or valve issues
- Research and introduce developments in raw materials and technologies to enhance product performance and reduce costs
- Ensure safe handling and storage of flammable, pressurized, or hazardous materials.
- Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives related to VOCs, HAPs, and waste
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aerosol industry or related manufacturing sector
- In-depth knowledge of aerosol formulations, propellants (LPG, HFCs, DME, CO₂, N₂), valve systems, and filling equipment.
- Experience with regulatory requirements applicable to aerosol products.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with production, sales, and customers.
- Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or other quality systems
- Working knowledge of lab instrumentation (GC, FTIR, viscometers, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement process improvements
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience managing a team or lab department
- Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, FDA, and DOT compliance
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Qualifications
TECHNICAL

- Must have ability to read mechanical working drawings.
- Must have ability to operate forklift.
- Knowledge of basic electrical circuits and how to operate a multi-meter a plus
PHYSICAL
- Must have physical strength and ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry such a weight for 100 feet.
- Must have good visual ability for close-up observations and use of analytical and control equipment
- Must have good depth perception and ability to distinguish different colors.
- Must have hearing sufficient to hear verbal and audible signals at a moderate distance.
