Summary Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of each designated project to ensure that the customer is satisfied and that each project meets the following objectives: each project is accomplished within prescribed timeframe, meets defined costs, conforms to internal quality standards and shipment parameters. Success will be achieved through a creative outlook on each project by performing the assigned duties personally and through support of the individual department managers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review project proposal, sales documents and equipment specifications to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allocation of available resources to various phases of project. Communicates requirements to department managers and monitors progress.Resolve discrepancies related to contract definition with customers and/or the internal sales group. Perform the 5 Project Management Responsibilities: Initiating, Planning, Monitoring/Controlling and Closing. Establishes work plan and communicates with department managers to support staffing for each phase of the project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel. Develops and updates project schedules as well as updates product master schedules for weekly review with management group. Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Helps coordinate activities of department managers to ensure on-time project performance. Works closely with the Accounting and Purchasing Departments; ensuring projects are within prescribed budget and to control shipments in line with financial reporting. Helps support timely receipt of project milestone payments from customers. Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required. Responsible for preparing project reports for: C-level, management, clients, or others. Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies as necessary.Acts as the direct liaison between the customer and in-house resources to ensure that the customers' expectations are met.Works with Sales and Marketing Department to generate and provide quotations for customers who are looking to enhance or modify the scope of the project. Expedite technical problems during the engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and quality phases for a timely resolution to problems. Responsible for all customer required approvals. Effectively manage, communicate, execute, and enhance the change management process. • Inspects product during production for conformance to specification by performing the following duties.
• Responsible for verifying the conformance of supplied products, where required. Extent of verification is based on the type of received product.
• Products requiring inspection will be inspected as per plan. Visually examines parts for surface defects such as material shortage, flash, cracks, etc. Works from blueprint drawings, charts, or specifications to check dimensions, squareness, hole locations, surface relationships, finish, material defects, etc.
• Ensure that all protractors, squares, and combination squares are calibrated to the standards described in work instructions.
• Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement test; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.

This role focuses on final assembly, testing/debugging, field installation, and service of advanced automation machinery across industries like life sciences, personal care, and food and beverage.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform final electrical and mechanical checks to ensure machinery meets specifications.
• Analyze part control, machine functions, and system operations.

Babbitting Service Inc (BSI), located in South Elgin, IL is seeking to fill seeking a detail-oriented parts Inspector to join our Quality team at Level 1 in the Inspection department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of machined parts to ensure compliance with drawings (blueprints) and standards in specifications.

Inspectors take instruction from Leads or Managers and perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators & gages. Inspectors will be inspecting finished parts, in process parts at machine, or incoming parts according to defined criteria. Candidates must have prior experience working in a machine shop environment.

As a dimensional inspector, you'll need sharp analytical skills to meticulously examine parts against specifications. Clearly and concisely communicating your inspection findings, both verbally and in written reports.

• Minimum 2 years' work experience in manufacturing and/or machining industry (will substitute 2 years education in metrology for work experience)
• Use measuring instruments including but not limited to inside/outside micrometers, calipers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, thread gages, depth gages, hardness tester and surface finish tester will be required.
  • Knowledge of these instruments is important and willing to train for more hands-on use.
• Requires the ability to communicate findings effectively both verbally and written with others in peer group and in management.
• Familiar with MS Office specifically Outlook, Word, Excel
• Able to read and/or interpret detailed blueprints (drawings) is a plus and willing to train, experience with GD&T is a plus
