The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting production operations, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring product quality in our cold heading department. This role involves close collaboration with production, quality, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot production challenges, and support customer inquiries on new products.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, evaluate, and improve cold heading and forming processes for production efficiency and quality.
+ Troubleshoot process and tooling issues on the production floor.
+ Design and specify tooling and equipment for new and existing parts.
+ Work with Quality and Production teams to reduce scrap and downtime.
+ Analyze production data and recommend improvements.
+ Assist with machine setup procedures and process documentation.
+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
+ Support new product development and process validation.
+ Collaborate with customers and vendors on technical requirements and improvements.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Minimum 2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (cold heading or metal forming strongly preferred).
+ Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
+ Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
+ Knowledge of lean manufacturing, SPC, and root cause analysis.
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in fastener manufacturing.
+ Familiarity with cold heading machines (e.g., National, Waterbury, or Sacma) and tooling.
+ Knowledge of heat treating, plating, and secondary operations.
+ Experience working in an ISO-certified environment.

Hands-on technician to assist manufacturing engineers with addressing equipment, tooling, and programming needs to reduce costs and improve part process on fans, wheels, blower packages, and corresponding component parts. Additionally, to provide support to: troubleshooting production equipment, continuous improvement projects, and confirming rates/operations in routings, maintaining records in the ERP system. Responsibilities:
- Under technical direction, troubleshoot and analyze tooling problems and implement corrective actions for high quality, efficient manufacturing solutions.
- Help identify required tools, jigs and fixtures, or other new or special equipment required for new production or improvements to existing production lines.
- Create tooling documentation by reverse engineering tooling using both manual measurements and 3D scanning
- Perform tooling detail and jig and fixture design
- Reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design models
- Use CNC software to program cutting paths, feeds and speeds as appropriate for a variety of tool steels and program machines accordingly
- Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
- Loading and clamping raw materials into the CNC machine, indicating the part to be machined, homing the machine and loading tool holders into the carousel in preparation for executing CNC programs
- Perform quality assurance tests to ensure parts meet design specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines and programs as they arise
- Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Experience with manufacturing data analysis.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude of general machinery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate all pieces of the filling packaging equipment as well as perform hand-filling tasks
- Operate a small Spray Dryer
- Understand and follow all packaging instructions on production cards and daily schedule (i.e. Weights, label requirements, formula integrity, machine number, etc.)
- Keep accurate production records, report information daily and accurate reporting
- Inspect in-process goods for proper weights, labeling, packaging, pallet configuration, correct and/or report defects.
- Perform sanitation duties, perform proper housekeeping, and adhere to safety and GMP procedures
- Help maintain equipment, report all machinery breakdowns or problems, and resolve basic mechanical issues
- Perform all retain procedures
- Assist in making basic, small blends, and emulsions
- Perform sampling procedures per specifications
- Operate fork truck in a safe manner
- Perform changeovers and wash downs (including chemical, allergen, and kosher) of equipment
- Participate in team/department meetings, offering suggestions where warranted
- Responsible for disposal of trash and operating compactor
- High School Diploma OR equivalency
- One year of production experience involving mixing/blending/processing or related experience
- Ability to use logical thinking in performing multiple duties, often working on different projects at the same time
- Ability to memorize various policies and procedures
- Ability to know when to go to higher level for a decision
- Ability to read and interpret various formula sheets, printed/written materials, and computer screens
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to perform basic math functions; must be able to write legibly
- Ability to lift and carry pails of liquids (50 lbs), move containers over 50 lbs., hand roll 600 lb drums
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and bend/stoop to work around equipment
- Ability to operate hand tools, high-pressure water hoses, and enter information onto a computer (touch-screen/keyboard)
- Ability to work a full shift plus daily overtime (often on short notice) and on weekends, plus have flexibility to work other shifts or longer shifts (10-12 hours)
- Fork truck license required or ability to become fork truck certified through McCormick and Company
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Ability to wear a PAPR/positive pressure respirator and to be physically able to complete annual pulmonary function monitoring and testing
- Experience in a computer-based system - SAP experience
- Experience working in a GMP environment
Pay Grade Range: $9.56 - 27.39
