Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer shall embed with Manufacturing Operations as the internal customer to provide day-to-day production support with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost control.
Additionally, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering department, assisting- and being assisted by- a team of fellow Manufacturing Engineers with varied subject matter expertise, experience levels, and assignments.
**Core Responsibilities** :
+ Review, interpret, and understand product Design Drawings and Test Procedure requirements as the basis for compliance in all other Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities.
+ Understand safety risks of materials and processes in manufacturing, assuring manufacturing procedures mitigate risk to personnel and facility in compliance with company safety standards. (Training provided).
+ Create and maintain manufacturing Bills of Materials, Manufacturing Instructions, and in-process Buy-Off Documents to assure on-time release to support production scheduling.
+ Document, maintain, modify, create, and validate assembly hand tooling, fixturing, and certain manufacturing equipment.
+ Be first to investigate assembly non-conformance or other production issues, lead or participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
+ Identify, develop, and implement productivity improvements and efficiencies through focused internal events using a company structured continuous improvement system similar to Toyota Production Systems.
+ Identify, justify, and champion the development, validation, and implementation of self-led productivity improvements including automation opportunities.
+ Represent Manufacturing Engineering in design reviews, proposals, Sales Order Kick Offs, and customer visits as necessary to support assigned programs and products.
**Qualifications:**
+ Hands-on experience supporting a manufacturing environment, interpreting design drawings, creating and editing work instructions, and defining, supporting , and improving manufacturing processes.
+ Proficiency with SolidWorks or other CAD software, with tooling design experience.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills.
+ Past experience in a regulated environment such as Military, Semiconductor, Medical, Aircraft, or Food Processing industries a plus.
+ A working knowledge of Toyota Production Systems, Six Sigma, Demming Cycle, Statistical Process Control, or other continuous improvement methodology a plus.
**Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline. Military or industry experience and training will be considered in lieu of Bachelor of Science degree.
+ 3+ Years experience in a technical/manufacturing environment.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in the aerospace industry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, lean methodologies, and quality control. This role involves working closely with design engineers, Test Engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure the efficient and effective manufacture of high-quality aerospace components. Knowledge of liner explosive would be a positive attribute for this position
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Process Development:** Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing aerospace products.
+ **Continuous Improvement:** Identify opportunities for process improvements using lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
+ **Quality Assurance:** Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with industry standards (AS9100) and company quality requirements.
+ **Tooling & Equipment Design:** Collaborate with design engineers to create tooling and equipment specifications that meet production needs.
+ **Production Support:** Provide technical support to production teams to troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing processes or equipment.
+ **Documentation & Reporting:** Prepare detailed documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis), control plans, and other relevant documents.
+ **Supplier Collaboration:** Work closely with suppliers to resolve any issues related to materials or components used in the manufacturing process.
+ **Project Management:** Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams focused on product development or process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other Engineering disciplines such as but not limited to, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related fields. A Master's degree is preferred but not required.
+ 7-10 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within the aerospace industry.
+ Proficiency in CAD software would be a plus.
+ Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
+ Experience with AS9100 standards and other relevant aerospace quality standards.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
+ Strong communication skills; able to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineers, production staff, quality assurance personnel, and suppliers.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

**Key responsibilities for this role include:**
+ Statistically review key chemistry metrologies to monitor and understand all aspects/ impacts to instrument analysis, method detection limits, and background/baseline shifts/trends.

**Description**
Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include:
- Review and provide feedback on design/design intent of components and assemblies.
- Set standard manufacturing practices and independently determine impact to design and parameters to the final product.
- Partner with internal and external cross functional teams to evaluate design and processes at concept phase and set expectations for manufacturing processes.
- Develop new and/or improved processes for parts and assemblies through the application of theoretical and practical engineering.
- Drive corrective actions cross-functionally with internal and external team members.
- Drive design experiments to prove out manufacturing processes or design iterations.
- Design for Manufacturability - Provide early and on going manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable.
- Process Engineering - Design and develop technically complex processes to improve quality and efficiency
- Present technical issues and updates to Apple management team and cross functional team on a frequent basis
- Provide creative solutions for engineering challenges or issues related to assembly process
- International travel to supplier sites, up to 30%
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ 3+ years experience in process development/bring up and qualification
+ BS (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Program/project management experience
+ Manufacturing or supplier management experience
+ Working knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawing Interpretation
+ Design of Experiments, statistical process control methods and theory
+ Good command of Excel and JMP
+ Knowledge of Metrology design and Optical/Contact Measurement Equipment is preferred
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Mandarin or Korean language skills are a plus but not required
+ Strong Team Player
**Pay & Benefits**
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,200 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
