**The Job:**
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be part of our Jackson Manufacturing Operations team working as an onsite employee. You'll get to:
+ Drive continuous improvement principles throughout the machine shop.
+ Day to day manufacturing process support of production teams (methods, tooling, equipment, problem
+ solving).
+ Provide resources required by the shop floor to meet objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (drawings, time studies, development of production rates, method & tool sheet maintenance, routing maintenance, REA & ECN processing, capacity planning, work center maintenance, new product quoting, standard work development, and P-order (prototype) tracking).
+ Ensure process capability by providing necessary resources to the shop floor including equipment, tooling, fixturing, methods, and processes.
+ Work closely with manufacturing supervisors as well as other support groups and technical leaders to resolve issues that arise as related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
+ Develops machining processes to meet goals.
+ Responsible for implementing cell design and SMED Kaizens in the machining areas to transform value streams to future state.
+ Responsible for supporting new product introductions by ensuring machined component process capability and production readiness.
+ Facilitates kaizen events for continuous improvement through the elimination of wastes.

You will partner with the General Manager of the Thermal Transfer Group business unit and other key stakeholders across our organization to ensure the delivery of world-class products to our customers.
**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will be responsible for facilitating the transition of new products from design through manufacturing, as well as developing and implementing process improvements across the facility. This role is predominantly focused on the Jackson facility of Young Touchstone and reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Leader of the business.
**What do we want to know about you?**
+ BS Engineering or higher from an accredited university, prefer Mechanical.
+ 3-5 years of prior Mechanical Engineering experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred
+ Experience in developing equipment including fin machines, bar/clad plate processing, cleaning, build table, vacuum brazing, preferred.
+ Significant experience in developing Aluminum heat exchanger manufacturing processes is desired, ideally a minimum of 3-5 years.
+ Heat Exchanger performance/life cycle testing AND failure analysis a large plus.
+ Experience in continuous process/flow improvements on manufacturing processes.
+ Knowledge of Aluminum Welding technology strongly preferred
+ Requires prior working with plant layout and production flow.
+ Requires experience implementing Root Cause analysis and A3 problem solving.
**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Develop equipment specifications, manufacturing processes, cell/plant layouts for Wabtec Aluminum Brazed Heat Exchanger product line.
+ Develop and support readiness levels to enable prototype and production of new product types.
+ Work with internal and external partners to achieve program objectives: Safety, Quality, Cost, etc.
+ Develop maintenance procedures, work instructions, and best practices for Aluminum product line.
+ Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Apply Discipline Operations strategy for managing continuous improvement of product systems and processes leading to product improvement.
  • Provide feedback to the facility leadership team on manufacturing work process gaps and results.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive asset strategies for all assigned assets; to include Operating Envelope, Operator Basic Care/Zone Ownership, Spare Parts / Stocking Strategy Optimization, Condition Based Monitoring, and Predictive & Preventative Maintenance activities.
  • Mentor and support area leaders with daily manufacturing work process execution and transformation efforts.
  • Effectively apply the challenge process; coach initiative owners to urgently escalate issues that are prohibiting the delivery of initiative results.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within paper converting, printing, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial automation technologies and equipment performance optimization.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including the ability to influence without direct authority, coach and develop team members, and lead cross-functional problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel with complex formulas and data analysis, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Our Wabtec Young Touchstone team combines knowledge of our customers' product platforms/processes with industry expertise to deliver unparalleled product solutions. Here you'll interact daily with all support team functions to solve problems and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.
**How will you make a difference?**
As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering group, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance across both the Jackson and Lexington plants. This role will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to integrate new automation systems, optimize existing equipment, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Leader of the business unit.
**What do we want to know about you?**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
+ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ 3+ years of experience in automation engineering, controls engineering, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and HMI development.
+ Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision inspection systems.
+ Proficient in reading and developing electrical schematics and technical documentation.
+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across two plant locations.
+ Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles preferred.
**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Design, develop, and implement automation systems (robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, vision systems, etc.) to support manufacturing operations.
+ Provide hands-on troubleshooting, programming, and maintenance support for automated equipment.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities that reduce cost, improve throughput, and enhance safety.
+ Support capital projects by specifying, sourcing, and commissioning new automated equipment.
+ Maintain accurate documentation of automation systems including electrical schematics, software programs, and operational manuals.
+ Train maintenance and production staff on operation and troubleshooting of automated systems.
+ Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
+ Collaborate with vendors and integrators for automation upgrades and new system implementation.
+ Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies.
+ Provide automation support for both Jackson and Lexington facilities, requiring travel between sites up to 40% of time.
