Manufacturing Technician - Covington, GA

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for supporting production packaging and processing operations, sanitation and participation in startup, changeover, and shutdown of operating equipment.

Shift hours:

  • 12-hour shifts with 3-2-2 schedule
    • 6:00 am to 6:07 pm (day shift)
    • 6:00 pm to 6:07 am (night shift)
  • Shift rotation every 8 weeks (day to night or night to days)
  • Scheduled Work Pattern
    • Short week: (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday) 36.36 hours
    • Long week: (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) 48.48 hours
    • Rotate Days/Nights every 8 weeks
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Plant operation is 24 hours per day, 7 days per week

Pay:

  • $23.75 per hour - Starting pay
  • $6.93 per hour - after passing 6-month probation
  • 37.91 per hour - Max pay

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school education or GED
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment is required or other mechanical technical experience required i.e.: HVAC and/or mechanical experience
  • All employees must go through a forklift certification course and are required to drive a forklift

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment

Position Summary:

This role will be responsible for supporting production by safely maintaining equipment to produce the highest quality. Diagnose and repair simple and complex manufacturing equipment issues, and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow good manufacturing practices, personal protective equipment requirements, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform basic mechanical adjustments like tensioning drive belts, conveyor belts, tracking belts and chains.
  • Works safely around moving equipment and conveyors in a wet environment
  • Be proficient in the use of standard hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, bearing pullers, etc.
  • Perform building mechanical repairs such as overhead door track and panel replacement, concrete work, and chain link repairs.
  • Change motors, pulleys, gear boxes and belting.
  • Perform simple plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, replace faucets, and toilet repairs.
  • Troubleshoot simple mechanical systems such as chain drives and pumps.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on all equipment and building structures (i.e. pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic electrical plumbing)
  • Replace slicer, cutter, dicer blade assemblies and perform necessary adjustments.
  • Read piping diagrams and identify the function of various components for air and water distribution systems.
  • Handle blade housing
  • Lock out/Tag out equipment as necessary
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as grinders, cut-off saws, power tools, ladders, etc.
  • Comply with SQF Regulatory Programs
  • Read and complete work orders, paperwork, specification books, schematics and manuals.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Willingness and flexibility to work in a cold environment
  • Mechanical and Electrical aptitude

  • Working knowledge of cleaning and degreasing techniques
