How Will You Make an Impact?:
In this role you will produce dry powder and liquid media consisting of various raw materials used in life science applications. The Manufacturing Technician I will perform various operations using specialized equipment ranging from manual to automated process steps. This role requires a high level of attention to detail with safety, quality, and other production standards in mind to contribute to the site's overall success.
A Day in the Life:
+ Use various equipment for processing.
+ Interpret established protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and ensure product quality and consistency.

**The Role:**
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is to provide professional technical knowledge, results and behaviors in the environment of new and mature manufacturing systems to sustain or increase safety, quality, throughput and efficiency. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to succeed in this role.
**What You'll Do (Responsibilities):**
+ Support the day-to-day production needs on the production floor by maintaining solid relationships with the Production and Maintenance teams.
+ Manage significant downtime events by providing technical guidance and support.
+ Design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrity.
+ Drive Continuous Improvement efforts in assigned area through the elimination of waste.
+ Evaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements in assigned area.
+ Reduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to equipment uptime, cycle time and quality.
+ Become a coach and teacher of lean manufacturing principles to the production floor team members.
+ Drive problem solving efforts.
+ Work collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization.
+ Work collaboratively with machine and tool builders on the design and implementation of new tools and equipment.
+ Create and Maintain Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans and PFMEAs.
+ Lead plant Equipment Install / Debug / Launch / Continuous Improvement activities.
+ Contribute to lessons learned activities by providing feedback and information to the central process team for BOE/BOP updates.
+ Provide technical direction to, and oversight of outside vendor sources when vendors are on site
+ Leverage GD&T skillsets to ensure manufacturing equipment, tooling, assembly processes, and quality verifications procedures meet design requirements
+ Equipment Spare Part identification and stock request submission
+ Author Equipment Preventative Maintenance Plans and provide training for the Maintenance and Production teams to execute
+ Problem-solve (analyze data, determine root causes, develop implementation plans) and resolve issues which are affecting assembly, quality or throughput
+ Support implementation of new processes & equipment
+ Provides technical support for manufacturing operations
+ Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs
**Your Skills and Abilities** ( **Required Qualifications):**
+ Ability and willingness to work Non-Standard Hours outside of normal Shift (early morning, late evenings and some weekends and holidays) to support installation and maintenance of equipment.
+ Minimum of 3 years of Assembly or Machining process development experience in Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering discipline with plant floor experience.
+ Experience in troubleshooting equipment (problem solving/debug).
+ Understanding of Pneumatic, Mechanical, and Control drawings.
+ Understanding/Application of Part Locating/Mechanics/Machine Design.
+ Understanding of Theory of Constraints.
+ Practical Problem-Solving Skills (Formal Training/Practical Application).
+ Technical knowledge & ability in process engineering disciplines and product development process.
+ Demonstrated interest and ability to learn and apply agile methodologies.
+ Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems.
+ Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
+ Experience working in manufacturing with a background in Continuous Improvement.

+ Demonstrated understanding of plant floor and design for manufacturability.
+ BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
+ Knowledge of AutoCAD, Team Center, Microsoft Project, Simulation.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
+ Experience with PFMEAs/Simulation/Fastening Equipment/Servo Presses/Sealing Dispensers/Cameras/Error Proofing Devices.
+ Experience in process development, specification, procurement, and qualification of equipment & tooling.
+ Previous experience with project management and time management.
+ Previous experience working in a Union Environment or Bargaining Unit.
+ Knowledge of or experience with Bill of Equipment (BOE), Bill of Process (BOP), Bill of Sediment Elimination (BOSE) and Bill of Operations (BOO).
**Compensation:**
+ The expected base compensation for this role is: $68,900.00 - $105,700.00. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

**Objectives:**
Performs multiple contact lens manufacturing tasks, including contact lens order preparation, blocking, polishing, product inspection (in-process and incoming materials), packaging, shipping, and operating state-of-the-art precision lathing equipment.
**Responsibilities** :
+ Operates manual polishing machines, contact lens optical blocking equipment, and performs contact lens deblocking. May operatehighly automated computerized contact lens manufacturing lathing equipment.
+ Maintains established performance standards for made-to-order product service levels to the customer.
+ Works together with the production team within an established Quality Management System keeping and maintaining a high level of manufacturing performance.
+ Uses the contact lens order system (Focal Points) from "launch in production" building production orders through shipping.
+ Maintains lens identification and traceability throughout the process steps.
+ Reads and understands standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation. Assures compliance with established government regulations, quality standards, test protocols, maintenance requirements, and production SOPs.
+ Accurately records data and observations during contact lens production and testing protocols.
+ Provides direct input to daily production workflow to include system data entry and ongoing issues.
+ Commands a working knowledge of the manufacturing processes in order to maintain awareness of process events that occur outside the lensmaker's direct responsibility that may impact product integrity / performance.
+ Coordinates daily tasks with supervisor and co-workers maintaining production flow and service level performance.
+ Handles incoming materials, replenishment of production supplies, and equipment maintenance. Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.
+ Follows good safety practices and company policies related to keeping a safe workplace environment.
+ May occasionally be expected to work overtime, as staffing needs require.
+ Participates in business-related projects and activities upon request of management.
**Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
+ Basic computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills. Strong math skills are a plus.
+ Good hand-eye coordination (handling of small parts).
+ No experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
+ Medical device manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
