Job Purpose: 

Serve as a Process Engineer responsible for assembly process development and determining the sequence of assembly for new spec parts based upon existing process/parts lay out/process standard time (ST) and/or the maintenance and optimization of established process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Use M.O.S.T. To develop balanced processes across manufacturing areas. Work to achieve high process efficiency. Apply lean manufacturing techniques. Design processes that are simple and achieve SQCDM targets.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production.
  • Audit big data to ensure accurate information across all operation standards. Mobilize Excel formulas and VBA coding to optimize tasks.
  • Support New Model events. Forecast design impact to department. Incorporate change points into process design. Identify concerns and countermeasures before mass production.
  • Perform time estimates for assembly line work, equipment loads and develop operation standards.
  • Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel
  • Regularly lead meetings with other Honda functional groups to develop and launch improvement themes (quality, safety, delivery, production, purchasing, packaging, or logistics)
  • Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns.
  • Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
  • Develop plans and schedules for projects. Set timelines and detailed activities. Hold meetings with cross functional engineering groups to ensure completeness.
  • Project support for all items impacting assembly department’s associate process.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or similar); or 6 years relevant experience required
  • 0-6 years’ experience based on education
  • Knowledge of: Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA); process engineering (MOST); parts numbers, BOM, and applications; Assembly (AF) quality control systems and specification; Assembly (AF) techniques and processes; New model project development; quality control systems and workflows; Assembly (AF) department layout and equipment.
  • Skill in: Analytical problem solving and decision making; communicating change to others, root cause analysis, collaboration with others, and self-driven.

Working Conditions:

  • Shift schedule is primarily a first shift position but at times require supporting additional shifts/hours
  • Position could require some travel to other HDMA locations or supplier locations
  • Position could require daily overtime or Saturday overtime
  • Position could require DPC coverage to the production floor
  • 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment, 50% office environmen

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Process Engineer Supervisor is responsible for leading the team of engineers who maintain and develop the sequence of assembly and operations standards in the Assembly Department at our East Liberty Auto Plant. Process Engineer is responsible for assembly process development and determining the sequence of assembly for spec parts based upon existing process/parts lay out/ST and/or the maintenance and optimization of established process to achieve the SQCDM metrics.

Key Accountabilities

  • Continuous development of self, colleagues, and team through training and mentoring to proactively improve areas of technical expertise for personal and team growth.
  • Lead and/or support collaborative development and problem-solving utilizing manufacturing solutions with existing and new technology.
  • Lead/support process development and maturation to achieve project targets.
  • Build process expertise to represent the department through communication to management.
  • Link to department initiatives in the area of technical expertise; (business plan, investment, FSI, Monozukuri, and Global Mother).
  • Understand/manage T-Stage (Trail stage) or mass production design change impact to process design.
  • Develop and maintain accuracy of systems required to support production. (Operation Standards, parts, PDDA, time standards, delivery locations, part flows, layouts….etc)
  • Design and improve process efficiency for maximum manpower utilization to establish direct process coverage (DPC).
  • Develop department sourcing strategies to optimize cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments, factories or experts for development and improvements as well as impact to the department (Packaging, Purchasing, APQ, QIC, New Model, Equipment, Safety, Quality… etc.)
  • Strive for continuous improvement through cycling PDCA for area of responsibility to ensure associate success.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and Robotics); or 8 years equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience.
  • 2 years mass production assembly experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of: Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA); process engineering (MOST); parts numbers, BOM, and applications; Assembly (AF) quality control systems and specification; Assembly (AF) techniques and processes; New model project development; quality control systems and work flows; Assembly (AF) department layout and equipment.
  • Skill in: Utilizing 2D and 3D drafting utilities - CATIA; analytical problem solving and decision making; project management.
  • Ability to: Respond effectively to unusual demands and special projects; work and communicate effectively in a team environment; clearly and concisely document thoughts, ideas, requirements, and problems.

Workstyle

  • Approx. 5 to 8 hours per workweek or as based on need.
  • Work weekends, off shifts and holidays as production schedules dictate 
  • Travel to other NA Gempos is required for benchmarking activity
  • 1 - 5 trips/year (4-8 weeks total) - domestic or international. May be required to travel to Japan for an extended period (2-4 weeks or more) Multi-plant assignments

Overview:

Manage SBK operations to achieve the most efficient, cost effective, and high quality production possible. Establish best practices and lead the SBK operations team in focusing on quality, food safety, maximizing customer service levels while minimizing operating costs and compliance with our quality assurance, quality control, sanitation and food safety standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Maximize the development of internal talent through regular performance coaching, performance reviews and presenting developmental opportunities.
2. Align area objectives with the strategic goals of the department.
3. Create annual budgets for assigned area of responsibility to maximize profitability.
4. Design and implement thorough plan of production scheduling, benchmarking, work organization and efficiency, GMP practices, sanitation safety, HACCP and hygiene practices.
5. Monitor and assist SBK Department Managers in daily operations.
6. Formulate and manage various quality, performance and efficiency metrics.
7. Develop and consistently enforce all production processes and procedures.
8. Design and implement continuous improvements efforts in work group organization and manufacturing process methodology
9. Develop and implement cost control procedures.
10. Lead new product development projects for successful launches.

Qualifications:

(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)


Education
• Technical / Trade training / Sheetz training required
• Associate's degree in Business Administration, Culinary, Bakery Food Science or other closely related field is preferred

Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience in production management, supervising a workforce and working knowledge of manufacturing systems required
• Experience in USDA and HACCP compliance, food safety, and quality assurance in a large food processing facility is required

Licenses/Certifications
• None required

• General office equipment
