Job Description

Summary

Under moderate supervision and working from written and/or verbal instructions including engineering drawings and test procedures, positions, builds, tests, repairs and modifies production mechanical and electronic components and instruments by performing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • ·Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical / electro-mechanical, electronic components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servosystems, machine tools, and measuring instruments. May be required to install, troubleshoot, diagnose causes and/or repair products, instruments or equipment or perform routine or preventive maintenance.

  • ·Coordinates and participates in final assembly of unit or system, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and instruments. May assemble standard components and assemblies.

  • ·Activates controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power.

  • ·Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.

  • ·Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to components for functional, operational, environmental, and life conditions to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model or to obtain data for development, standardization, quality control, and/or contract requirements.

  • ·Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and corrects equipment through modification, rebuild or adjustment to meet specifications.

  • ·Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.

Education and/or Experience

Purina Animal Nutrition - Manufacturing Management Track (MMT) Associate

This position is intended to be a 12-month training position for future development into Manufacturing Supervision roles including that of a Production Supervisor, Quality Program Supervisor, or Maintenance Supervisor within our Animal Feed Division. As a Trainee, you will be assigned to one of our Feed Plant locations to assist in leading the overall activities of the selected feed plant to ensure quality products and services are provided to our customers.

Responsibilities include learning all plant processes including regulatory compliance programs -- both safety and quality, maintenance, human resources activities, and managerial and administrative functions. Upon successful completion of the training program, you may be relocated to another Purina plant. Willingness to relocate after the training program is a requirement.

Day in the Life:

The MMT program is designed to answer the "how, what, and why" of feed manufacturing while providing trainees with learning opportunities and trainings to become successful people leaders. The program is built to follow a detailed training schedule that will guide you through each step of the process at your manufacturing facility. This training is designed to give you hands-on knowledge of job responsibilities, equipment, and materials that are involved in each specific production process. MMTs will be tasked with understanding how production and or program supervisors manage their team, assisting to meet volume goals, maximize yields, and minimize material yield. These responsibilities are accomplished all while ensuring employees follow quality and safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in feed science, animal science, ag systems/technology management, industrial engineering, ag business, supply chain operations, agriculture, or related fields of study with an expected graduation date of Winter 2025 or Spring 2026
  • Demonstrated leadershipinschool/academic/industry-relatedclubs
  • Willingness to relocate for the program and then upon program completion is required

Physical Qualifications:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co- workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. The ability to work overtime will be required . The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Salary for this position is $70,000
