Located just outside of Chicago, our Melrose Park location is part of our Coatings division and creates batter blends, pastry blends, and bread crumbs. The starting wage for this role is $21.42 per hour. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. General Plant Worker $1.42/hr
Blender, Machine Operator, Batch set up, Full/Part bag operator 22.32/hr
Utility 22.71/hr
+ Regularly handle objects weighing up to 50+ lbs in a frequent basis.
+ Responsible for machine start up, shut down and changeover procedures. Verify that screens on sifters are in good condition and are appropriate for the product that is running.
+ Check that the mixer is set according to manufacturing order specifications and taking corrective action when product varies from quality standards.
+ Check the manufacturing order (MO) and confirm the correct ingredients are being used.
+ Dump ingredients into bag dump station or other specified area.
+ Record all raw materials neatly and accurately on the manufacturing order (MO).
+ Communicate effectively with other departments, and work within a team environment.
+ Able to use simple work hand tools. Perform a wide variety of miscellaneous duties which may include: sweeping, clean-up, removing garbage, taking samples and etc. Participate in safety programs such as; safety orientation, safety committee, ergonomic committee, monthly regulatory safety trainings and Eye for safety program.
+ Follow all Kerry safety, environmental and regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines. May perform any other duties assigned by leadership. Required to maintain adequate performance levels as directed. Must be punctual and attend scheduled hours as instructed.
Qualifications and skills
+ EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or GED required. 1 to 3 years related experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred, or any manufacturing industry required.

This position is responsible for processing orders by operating production equipment. The primary duties include operating die-cutters, slitters, and adhesive coaters with various materials. Responsibilities also involve packing products for shipment and supporting other operations as needed. It requires a high level of flexibility to switch between projects within a shift as priorities change. Additionally, the role includes being available to assist in training and answering questions as they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· This person will work with various pieces of production equipment while processing a customer's order and thus should feel comfortable around machinery.

· An understanding of how mechanical machinery and electronic controls operate is important (good mechanical aptitude).

· Experience with die cutting and slitting equipment is a plus, but we will train

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

· This position offers a diverse range of experiences in all areas of production, as well as a working environment where your ideas are valued

· Requires experience in running, troubleshooting, and quality control

· Good verbal and written communication skills are important, and basic math skills are essential

· Meet production schedules and adhere to established standard timeframes for set up and cycle times

· Performing routine adjustments during the production run and maintaining production throughout the run

· Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented atmosphere

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Must be reliable and punctual

· Safely operate any equipment and comply with all safety policies

· Prior experience as a machine operator in a production environment is required

· 3 – 5 years of expertise

· Perform other job duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignments, for extended periods

· Repetitive movements

· Routine lifting up to 20 lbs

· Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs

The Successful Applicant

Essential Functions:

  • With supervision completes Warehousing, Inventory Control, Receiving, Shipping, Product Identification and traceability, and proper material handling and storage tasks.
  • Completes inventory transactions such as transfers, issues, receipts on PC and barcode scanner.
  • With supervision, assists with Inventory Cycle Count Program.
  • Uses continuous improvement program.

Qualifications Guidelines

Experience/Training/Education:

Required: High School graduate, or equivalent. Material Handler experience. Experience making inventory transactions through an ERP system (preferably Epicor E9) and through barcode

Desired: Vocational training in Inventory Management, Logistics or material processing. Experience picking and issuing material to Production. APICS certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Requires good communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and follow instructions. Requires an eye for detail. Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operating and documentation procedures and material flow; Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; ability to accept constructive criticism; ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently; ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees.

Physical and Environmental Elements:

This is a production classification and employees work in a factory environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable standing, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.

Special Requirements/Certification:

Forklift Operation.

Basic Computer Skills.
