The Supplier Support Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for addressing part shortages and ensuring supplier performance aligns with Clear to Build (CTB) targets. This role emphasizes driving operational performance improvements at suppliers beyond the top 15 most impactful, with a proactive approach to prevent surprises and ensure delivery continuity.
A strong understanding of engineering processes related to manufacturing is essential, as the role requires a hands-on approach to supplier management. This includes deploying to supplier locations as needed to resolve issues, enhance performance, and mitigate supply chain disruptions.
The Supplier Support Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in upholding GE Aerospace's commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) while ensuring delivery commitments are consistently met.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ **Proactive Shortage Management:** Monitor supplier performance to identify potential part shortages weeks in advance. Develop and implement recovery plans to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure consistent part coverage.
+ **Supplier Collaboration:** Partner with suppliers to address root causes of delays, implement corrective actions, and foster strong relationships for continuous improvement.
+ **Sub-Tier Process Oversight:** Manage supplier sub-tier processes, including specialized operations like coatings, peening, non-destructive testing (NDT), and other critical services to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
+ **Problem-Solving Leadership:** Lead creative solutions for complex manufacturing processes involving technical variety and interdependent production cycles. Utilize advanced operational, product management, and engineering techniques to resolve issues.
+ **On-Site Support:** Deploy to supplier locations as needed to provide hands-on support, drive recovery efforts, and align production schedules.
+ **Performance Improvement:** Analyze supplier processes to identify improvement opportunities, implement lean principles, and optimize operations for enhanced delivery performance.
+ **Cross-Functional Coordination:** Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and operations teams to align recovery efforts with business objectives. Communicate supplier performance updates and recovery plans to stakeholders.
+ **Data Analysis and Reporting:** Track supplier performance metrics, provide regular updates, and leverage data-driven insights to recommend long-term solutions.
+ **Production Process Control:** Define and oversee production processes, including tooling and equipment validation, ensuring alignment with design specifications and shop floor applications.
+ **Strategic Decision-Making:** Interpret business challenges and industry trends to recommend best practices for improving products, processes, or services.
+ **Leadership and Communication:** Lead functional teams or projects, present solutions to leadership, and influence internal and external stakeholders to drive action and adopt new perspectives.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university + Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering Operations experience
+ Must be willing to travel up to 50%

The base pay range for this position is $121,500 to $200,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. **Roles and Responsibilities:**
+ Provide advanced technical support and leadership for turbine airfoil manufacturing processes, including laser weld, laser ablation, creep feed grinding, and EDM
+ Lead troubleshooting and optimization efforts for laser weld and ablation processes, ensuring precision and reliability in joining and material removal operations
+ Drive strategic improvements in creep feed grinding and EDM operations to enhance material removal accuracy and surface finish quality
+ Mentor and train junior engineers and manufacturing personnel on best practices and advanced techniques for laser weld, laser ablation, creep feed grind, and EDM processes
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex manufacturing challenges and improve process efficiency across all operations
+ Conduct root cause analysis and lead the implementation of corrective actions for quality or performance issues related to these processes
+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) priorities, with safety being the top priority

**Required Qualifications:**

Quality Control (QC) Manager - Industrial Fabrication
A leading industrial and structural steel fabrication company is hiring a Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead the quality program across all phases of fabrication. This individual will ensure all work is completed in accordance with customer specifications, project requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the company's Quality Control Program across all fabrication operations
- Oversee inspections of incoming materials, in-process welding/fabrication, and final assemblies
- Ensure compliance with industry codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME, and customer contract requirements
- Supervise and maintain welding procedures, welder qualifications, and NDE documentation
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and project management to ensure quality goals are met
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for any non-conformance issues
- Maintain traceability records, inspection logs, and all required documentation for internal and external review
- Represent the company during customer and third-party inspections and audits
- Mentor and supervise the QC team, including inspectors and welders
- Recommend and implement improvements to the quality management system
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in quality control within the industrial or structural fabrication industry
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) strongly preferred
- NDT Level II in VT, MT, or PT a plus
- Familiarity with quality programs for AISC-certified facilities
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and applicable codes
- Strong attention to detail, with effective documentation and reporting skills
- Hands-on working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and fabrication QC tracking systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment
- Physical ability to work in a shop and field setting, including climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Some travel may be required for offsite inspections or training
