Position Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting functions, with a focus on project-based accounting and cost management, for a particular division within a manufacturing organization. The role adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting. In addition, the position will generate budgets and forecasts, as well as complete daily AR and AP transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, and monitor the division's cash flow. The position prepares necessary statements and reports for review and consolidation by the company controller into corporate financial statements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performs general cost accounting, compiling cost information and maintaining expense information in company's MRP/ERP system, and identifying inaccuracies
- Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Maintains the general ledger, records month-end journal entries and updates related schedules for an accurate and timely general ledger close, making adjustments where necessary
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and manages accounts receivable collections
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
- Reconciles bank accounts and verifies deposits
- Forecasts weekly cash requirements
- Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins
- Reviews inventory and WIP balances
- Reconciles customer deposits against activity
- Performs journal entries for bi-weekly payroll
- Performs month-end and year-end closings with assistance
- Produces weekly and monthly metrics reports for management
- Recommends tools and processes to improve reporting and analysis
- Performs other related accounting and financial duties as assigned
Essential Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting in a manufacturing setting
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Highly proficient with accounting software and MRP/ERP systems
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a dedication to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Collaborative with an ability to work cross-functionally and inter-departmentally
Required Experience:
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years' experience in accounting for a manufacturing company
- 5+ years' experience using MRP/ERP software and Microsoft Office

**Minimum Qualifications:**
Bachelor's Degree. 10 years of related experience. PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list). Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
