+ Support the assembly and machining controls engineering deliverables for programs, from simultaneous engineering through program launch for all Global sites.
+ Implement and apply standard software and hardware controls architectures across all programs/plants, following the controls specification.

+ Experience in controls engineering with strong ability to quickly learn and apply controls knowledge
+ Applied experience in Structured Control Language (SCL)
+ Including FC/FB Editing and creation
+ Extensive software programming experience - Siemens based preferred
+ Direct program experience with assembly and machining controls architectures (hardware/software)
+ Validated programming capabilities with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Bosch PLCs and with CNC/Motion controls systems
+ Hands-on knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and fix PLC, CNC, robot, vision and other automation issues
+ Demonstrated skill in cell machining systems and integration of CNC controls, gantries and auxiliary equipment
+ Knowledge of assembly and machining RFID systems including complexity management, and QOS strategies
+ Knowledge of international electrical/safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC etc) and familiarity with internal/external safety processes (risk assessments, PSS, coordinated safety etc.)
+ Able to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints and design electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints
+ Understanding of communication network architectures and field bus protocols
+ Extensive knowledge of PTME IT standard footprint applications such as FIS, QLSM, QWX, GPTS, QDAS, OBL, PDS etc.
+ Familiarity with program delivery elements from the cost study phase to launch
+ Process engineering knowledge including GPDS deliverables and plant operational impact of controls designs
+ Experience interacting with senior management, process engineering, safety, IT, and plant production teams
+ Self-starter, self-directed with extremely good influential, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is a cross-functional role that supports Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering operations in a low volume - high model mix production environment.
This position serves as a key liaison between production and engineering teams to ensure product integrity, process stability, and operational excellence.
The individual in this role conducts quality assurance audits, verifies compliance with established assembly procedures, and ensures that all processes are repeatable, efficient, and free from unnecessary constraints—particularly in accommodating frequent product changes.
Working closely with floor supervisors and cross-functional teams, the Manufacturing Process Engineer identifies and resolves quality and efficiency issues, implements best practices, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.
This role also acts as a technical resource to production staff and internal departments, providing guidance during critical quality situations.
Additionally, the Manufacturing Process Engineer supports leadership in mentoring emerging talent and fostering a culture of operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drive process development for ongoing production to improve throughput, quality and scrap rates.
• Develop and manage equipment maintenance systems for optimal operations
• Support manufacturing operations to meet on time shipment, quality and scrap metrics
• Lead new product process design, development and launch
Duties/Essential Job Functions:
1. Predictive and Preventive Maintenance
• Perform predictive and preventive maintenance and repair/troubleshooting of equipment to optimize uptime, safety, process quality, and throughput.
• Serve as the go-to person for production-related equipment issues, including assembly and weld fixture optimization.
• Maintain and update electronic maintenance records.
• Ensure and verify lockout/tagout procedures to maintain servicing safety.
• Install, repair, and maintain machinery to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Lead and document preventative maintenance procedures to minimize production downtime.
• Train production operators in routine equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate with the Plant Supervisor to manage spare parts inventory for equipment, tools, and fixtures based on risk.
• Collect, monitor, and report inspection, audit, and maintenance data for analysis.
2. Process development for improved quality, throughput and safety.
• Develop processes to improve product quality, throughput, and safety.
• Program and optimize equipment, including welders, heat inserts, robots, CNC, presses, and leak testers.
• Create and maintain comprehensive work instructions for all manufacturing processes (e.g.,
Carbon, Nylon, Assembly, and rework), including startup check sheets in PLEX.
• Analyze process risks and implement control measures, including EFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans.
• Collaborate with management in developing and implementing manufacturing best practices
to support organizational growth.
3. Production support
• Debug and troubleshoot production processes.
• Optimize line balancing and workflows.
• Identify and implement short-term corrective actions and provide operator training.
• Develop and manage rework processes.
• Support Production Team Leads in identifying training needs and providing guidance on
quality standards and assembly processes.
• Part of the departmental leadership team, responsible for coaching, mentoring, and
developing employees.
4. New product development and launch
• Lead and own process design in parallel with product development initiatives.
• Design fixtures and process flows for new products.
• Plan and coordinate new equipment requirements for new product launches.
5. Quality support
• Collaborate with Production Team Leads to validate BOMs and routings and ensure efficient changeovers.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
• Work with Engineering to determine materials, processes, and specifications, and create supporting documents such as control plans and PFMEAs.
• Implement and enforce effective quality checks across all product lines.
• Drive product conformance and quality on the plant floor.
• Assist the Quality Manager with documentation for ISO/IATF 16949 certification.
• Support inspection of internal and incoming products to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards, documenting findings.
• Contribute to PPAP and IMDS submissions with cross-departmental support.
• Monitor and document supplier quality scorecards and follow up on corrective action documentation for internal departments and suppliers.
• Participate in internal, manufacturing, and layered process audits, including follow-up documentation.
• Ensure removal and documentation of non-conforming products (containment) and communicate inspection results to relevant stakeholders.
• Act as a point of contact for customer quality concerns; process RMAs and facilitate containment and corrective actions.
• Report problems and concerns to senior management promptly.
Required education and experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering discipline OR will consider min 10 years experience in automotive part manufacturing field, plastics prefered
Seeking experience working in closely with quality department.
Seeking some knowledge of manufacturing equipment function/ maintenance, this is a hands-on role.
Preferred education and experience:
- Ability to read drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
- Enthusiasm for meeting customer needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and CAD (or similar)
Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm but can be flexible
Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Operations
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and company provided steel toe shoes will be required when working in the manufacturing areas.
- The person in this position needs to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Able to meet the maximum recommended weight limit (RWL) lift defined by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of 51 pounds.
Travel: Local travel may be required for supplier quality audits

Location : 14 1/2 and Mound, Sterling Heights, MI
Compensation :
- $20.00/hr (1st Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
- $0.00/hr + 0.75 shift premium (2nd Shift: 1:45 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)
- Split shift between two departments when on the 2nd shift.
Shift Details :
- 1st Shift : Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- 2nd Shift : Monday-Friday, 1:45 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

As an Automotive Team Leader, you will supervise and support the activities of production personnel across various manufacturing functions. This position is a "working supervisor" role, where you will be actively involved in daily production while having limited authority for personnel actions. You will rely on your experience and judgment to meet production goals, maintain safety and quality standards, and foster continuous improvement. Typically reports to a manager or department head.

- Safety and Standards Compliance : Ensure that workstations meet all safety, 1+5S, and TPM requirements by actively assessing and improving workstation standards according to quality guidelines.
- Training and Process Documentation : Review all Method Sheets relevant to department tasks and ensure employee training is in line with proper procedures, collaborating with HR.
- Production and Inventory : Facilitate the scanning of work orders within the Oracle Production System to ensure accurate production reporting and inventory management. Ensure that all rework tickets are completed and submitted to the proper department.
- Leadership by Example : Lead by displaying a proactive work ethic that sets the standard for maintaining a safe, productive, and high-quality work environment. Continuously strive for improvement in all aspects of production.
- Team Support : Act as a working production team member when necessary. Maintain the First5 Boards and facilitate meetings in the absence of the supervisor.
- Lean and Continuous Improvement : Help maintain all lean enterprise initiatives, including 1+5S, TPM, and VSM requirements, supporting overall process efficiency and safety.
- Production Sign-off : Sign off on all completed department production before transferring items to the next production stage.
- Other Duties : Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or team leader.
Requirements
Required : Proven experience in manufacturing leadership.
Additional Requirements : Must be willing to undergo a national background check and pass a drug test.
