OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-time Manufacturing Machinist, you will setup and operate multiple pieces of equipment such as turning centers, machining centers, and various other pieces of manual equipment. The successful candidate must understand machine operation and capabilities of each of those machines. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Performing accurate inspections on product
o Running multiple pieces of equipment at the same time
o Providing assistance to other employees when needed
o Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of work area

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
o Excellent written and oral communication skills

+ Support new model launches. During launches, the position will require extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment.
+ Deliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective system. Understand component data and a system impact.
+ Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch.
+ Operate in stressful situations within timing constraints

**You'll have.**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering
+ Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)
+ Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.
+ 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Job Description

Ulbrich’s manufacturing divisions in North Haven and Wallingford, CT have immediate openings for skilled individuals in our slitting, annealing, rolling mill and shaped wire operations. In these positions you will assist in the set-up and operation of heavy, sophisticated equipment.

Qualifications

Turkshead Operator

Primary duties include setting up and operating shaped wire equipment, Turkshead machines. Required to produce various sizes, shapes, gauges and complex dimensions as well as round and special shapes. Responsibilities include the quality of the product on all operations handled, following applicable ISO procedures, operator preventative maintenance, maintaining equipment and work area to the required safety and operational standards at Ulbrich Shaped Wire. Regular use of a forklift, hand truck, and overhead cranes. Participate in various team activities. Must be able to read a micrometer and other measuring tools in addition to being able to complete math calculations. Considerable physical effort is required.

Wire Mill Operator

Primary duties include setting up and operating wire mill. Required to produce various sizes, shapes, gauges and complex dimensions as well as round and special shapes. Responsibilities include the quality of the product on all operations handled, following applicable ISO procedures, operator preventative maintenance, maintaining equipment and work area to the required safety and operational standards at Ulbrich Shaped Wire. Regular use of a forklift, hand truck, and overhead cranes. Participate in various team activities. Must be able to read a micrometer and other measuring tools in addition to being able to complete math calculations. Considerable physical effort is required.

Annealer

Set-up, operate and adjust electric and/or gas fired vertical and horizontal strip annealing furnaces. Work from schedules to operate furnaces in accordance with speeds, tensions, temperatures, atmospheres and gauge to meet our customer requirements. Must have the ability to use electric shears to cut strip, hoists, micrometers and other measuring instruments. Mental and visual attention required in checking for variations and defects on the materials. Use of decimals and fractions required. Moderate physical demand, must demonstrate safe work practices. Must be available to work any shift.

Utility Helper

Perform a variety of duties to assist the Rolling Mill Operator or the Slitter Operator in the setup, operation, and break down of a rolling mill or slitting equipment. Follow defined Quality operational instructions, to ensure materials are processed in a manner that will meet or exceed customer expectations. Position requires the performance of duties within very close proximity to moving cutting equipment and requires extreme caution and strict adherence to related safety standards. Ability to use electric shears to cut strip, hoists, micrometers and other measuring instruments. Mental and visual attention required in checking for variations and defects on the materials. Use of decimals and fractions required. Moderate physical demand, must demonstrate safe work practices.
