**The Job:**
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be part of our Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM)/EA Patten, a primary division of Stanley Black & Decker Aerospace, working as an on-site employee. As the Manufacturing Engineer, an entry level position, in our Columbia, CT facility, you will help support the engineering team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn and grow skills in various disciplines. i.e. Manual and CNC machining, drafting, modeling, additive manufacturing (3D printing), Inspection methods, non-destructive testing, process improvement, product requirements, etc. Your job responsibilities will include:
+ Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing products and processes.
+ Research customer specifications, and new processes.
+ Troubleshoot existing shop floor processes, tools, and equipment.
+ Design tooling for new and improving existing processes.
+ Produce engineering drawings for new products.
+ Interact with customers, operators, sales reps and vendors.
+ Review and implement manufacturing drawing and engineering change notices.
+ Evaluate data and product specifications to determine the feasibility of product proposal.
+ Analyze data and reports to determine if design meets specifications.
+ Reduce waste and increase capacity/efficiency through application of continuous improvement tools (i.e. structured problem solving, setup reduction, organization and standardization of machining centers, mistake-proofing in tool/fixture design).

+ An associate's degree is required. Bachelor's degree in engineering, metallurgy or materials science preferred.
+ 3+ years of process/manufacturing engineering experience is preferred in applying advanced engineering principles in a metal forming manufacturing environment.
+ Aerospace industry experience or exposure preferred.
+ Working knowledge of manufacturing methods _,_ concepts, processes, and systems.
+ Solid analytical skills and the ability to define and brainstorm solutions to problems.
+ Training in Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement Tools preferred.
+ Product prototyping, qualification and/or testing experience preferred.
+ Familiarity with ISO 9000 or AS9100 quality standards preferred.
+ Working knowledge of CAD software, SolidWorks, and/or NX is preferred.

The Associate Manufacturing is a hands-on role in one of the two manufacturing facilities on site at Amgen Rhode Island. Successful candidates will join either the AR5 team, focused on ongoing, high-volume production, or the AR30 team, focused on operational readiness and start-up. Qualifications for this role are the same in both facilities. There are multiple openings for this position.
The on-boarding phase for this role will last 2-6 weeks, during which time successful incumbents will be on an administrative schedule (Monday through Friday, approximately 8am to 5pm). Following the on-boarding phase, the successful incumbent will be expected to join a shift team working a 12-hour shift. The shift pattern will be 7pm - 7am with a two-week rotation covering 7 days per week. The rotating shift offers several benefits, with an average of 14 days on shift per month with every other weekend off. In addition, any Sundays worked receive Premium pay.

This family-owned food manufacturer has been in business for over 35 years and expanding rapidly. The company was up 172% vs. last year and have the same projections for the upcoming years, they have a major facility expansion upgrade scheduled this spring. It is a work hard play hard, 'We are butchers, flavor artisans and hard-nosed perfectionists' family atmosphere that runs one shift Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out QA policies, procedures, and directives in the development of and compliance with company, customer, and government expectations while providing feedback and required follow up to ensure proper corrective action.
- Participate with customer audits and annual SQF audit as needed
- Conduct pre-shipment review, CCP's, validation studies, report on deficiencies for GMP's, HACCP and SSOP's
- Direct inspection and sample activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Inspect products to specification, temp and weight checks.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations. Work with Plant Manager and Sanitation Manager to ensure proper housekeeping and maintenance of facility, equipment, and grounds.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Computer skills, analytical, equipment and food-processing equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control processes related to the food-processing industry.
- Knowledge of quality process control and HACCP, SSOP and SOP.
- Knowledge of USDA and FDA standards. Self-starter, motivator, goal-oriented and a strategic thinker.
- Good organizational and communication skills both verbally and written.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited College or University preferred
- Five plus years of quality control experience; in a food-manufacturing environment
- HACCP Certified
- SQF Certified
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
