Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the execution of continuous improvement projects including scope development, data collection, analysis, project implementation, training, and ensuring effective corrective actions in the form of standard work, single point lessons, work instructions, and process control plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with product family team to identify potential productivity improvement opportunities in the areas of yield, direct labor utilization, and overhead cost reduction.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects from start to finish.
  • Establish and implement processes, tooling, equipment, and quality control methods using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Work with operators, supervisors, and management to write detailed operator Standardized Work instructions to ensure that productivity projects are sustained long term.
  • Assists in the Operator Training Process as it relates to Standardized Work.
  • Provide technical support for plant layout, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, and feasibility studies.
  • Disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Conducts cost/benefit/risk analysis as required.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Work with Customer Service and Production Planner to estimate costs and lead times to produce non-standard products.


 
Job Requirements:   
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent demonstrated ability per previous experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work in a Lean organization.
  • Hands on management style.
  • Strong analytical skills using tools such as statistics, Microsoft Excel, Pareto analysis, etc. to identify opportunity areas.
  • Must be able to communicate with others in a manner that considers multiple viewpoints, shows respect, builds trust, and fosters ongoing positive working relationships especially when there is disagreement.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  Hands on performer.
  • Is not easily frustrated, is flexible, adaptable and willing and seeks out the necessary changes to move the business forward.

Overview of the Role:
Entry-level supervisor and leadership role that is accountable for leading, developing and engaging the workforce that safely operates, maintains and improves equipment and assembly processes in the execution of the production plan. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Model and champion safe work environment behaviors.
  • Ensure proper training of all employees regarding GMPs, Safety, Quality, and other company procedures.
  • Monitoring verification and documentation associated with adherence to government regulations.
  • Assesses, identifies, and addresses training opportunities, including job skills training and goal setting; facilitates effective team meetings, and rewards and recognizes the team’s progress.
  • Oversee all sanitation training programs to ensure they are understood and completed by employees in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manages team to maximize efficiency, consistently performing processes within designed and documented SOP methods.
  • Reviews and assures that process documentation is being utilized by the employees.
  • Performs timely feedback, coaching, and counseling on individual employee and team performance using standard work
  • Managing and auditing timecards
  • Anticipates, plans, and monitors line set-up & changeovers to occur in an efficient manner.
  • Records daily production results to plan.
  • Assigns employees and resources as needed to meet daily production plans.
  • Participates and leads continuous improvement events.
  • Regular attendance is required to maintain the functions of the job.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Proactive safety, quality near-miss situation communication.  Correct adverse conditions and work with support functions to communicate new standards.
  • Conducting lab work/product tests in the absence of a quality technician
  • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety of equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities.
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS :
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • 2-year degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in a lead role or 1-2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience preferred.
  • Supervision/management training
  • High degree of problem-solving skills   
  • Effective communication and leadership skills

**Ensures the appropriate setup and maintenance of filter items in our ERP system (QAD), ensuring accurate data alignment and timely purchase order processing across all business units.**
Key Accountabilities:
**Project Leadership & Execution**
+ Lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
+ Facilitate effective communication across all project stakeholders, including regular updates, risk mitigation strategies, and issue resolution.
+ Drive projects through the phase-gate process, ensuring milestones are met and documentation is complete.
**Process & Systems Management**
+ Establish standardized project management tools, templates, and best practices.
+ Monitor and track project progress using KPIs and reporting tools to ensure alignment with business goals.
+ Set up and maintain filter items in QAD ERP, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across business units.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
+ Central point of contact between commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
+ Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and implementing corrective actions.
**Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Engage with steering committees and senior leadership to provide project updates, escalate issues, and align on strategic priorities.
+ Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration across all project phases
Essential Functions:
**Project Management & Leadership:** Lead and manage cross-functional filtration projects from initiation through completion.
**ERP & Data Management (QAD):** Set up, manage, and maintain filter items, components, and non-recurring engineering (NRE) data in the QAD ERP system.
**Documentation & Process Support:** Organize and maintain project-related documentation including SOPs, forms, customer files, and other records.
**Performance Tracking & Reporting:** Monitor project performance against key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare and present regular reports to management, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
**Education**
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, chemical or related field), Required.
**Work Experience**
3+ years of project support/management of Engineering Initiatives/projects in a manufacturing or R&D setting.--
Experience within new product development, manufacturing and/or production operations; Preferred.--
Proficiency/Familiarity with Project Management Tools (i.e. MS Project, MS Planner, Monday.com, MS Teams, etc.); Required.
Experience with ERP systems (preferably QAD) and data management; Preferred.
Travel upwards of 10% - other manufacturing sites, application/R&D labs, business meetings, etc.; Required.--
