ColonialWebb is looking for Plumbing/Pipefitter Mechanics to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems.

  • Environment: Fabrication Shop.

  • Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F.

A day in the life:

  • Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations

  • Survey structure to identify obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe

  • Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using necessary tools (i.e., ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob)

  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools

  • Cut and thread pipe, using necessary tools (i.e., pipe cutters, port-a-band saw, reciprocating saw, torch, pipe-threading machine)

  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals (I.e., iron, steel, brass, copper, glass, vitrified clay, and plastic) using hand tools and power tools

  • Join pipes by use of proper supplies (i.e., screws, fittings, solder, brazing, grooving, plastic solvent, welding wire)

  • Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to identify possible leaks

  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, water closets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, water softeners, and other fixtures as required

  • Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures and practices

You should have:

  • Safety-minded and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations

  • Work experience as a Plumber Mechanic or Pipefitter for commercial construction projects. (Journeyman level experience is preferred, but not required)

  • Experienced with layouts and ability to read and work from drawings

  • Ability to direct the work of a helper or apprentice

  • Initiative; self-motivated, self-starter

  • Knowledge of basic construction/shop math

  • Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC)

  • Positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work without direct supervision

  • A reliable source of transportation to and from work

What You'll Do:

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and facility equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Collaborate with production teams to quickly and effectively resolve equipment issues.

A day in the life:

  • Diagnose causes of breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components

  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, gears, and mechanical assemblies

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Obtain purchase orders and make small purchases required during the performance of work, including maintaining sufficient inventory; conduct inventory of all standard maintenance stock

You should have:

  • Five years experience in a maintenance role with machinery and equipment

  • Hands on experience maintaining coil lines, plasma tables, brakes, robotics, waterjets, and other shop type machinery

  • Experience with improving pm programs a plus

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Understanding of mechanical systems (gears, belts, motors), and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues

  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy

  • Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner

  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, but remain calm when handling emergencies

  • Possess knowledge of OSHA safety regulations

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
