Summary of Function:
The Manufacturing Engineer will support Production, Project Engineering and Process Engineering functions, as they relate to injection molding and/or assembly projects for the company. Additionally, this position will ensure that all documents or practices follow the Quality Regulatory objectives of Medbio, LLC. The Manufacturing Engineer may be required to assist junior engineers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sustain products already in production, addressing scrap issues, specification or safety issues, or potential efficiency improvements, including document changes that come from the production group.
- Use customer-provided drawings or specifications, and consider Medbio quality requirements, to develop accurate and complete product specifications, purchased component specifications, assembly specifications, item masters, and bills of material for all new or transfer products.
- Work with Production Manager, Program Managers, Project Engineers, and/or Process Engineers to conceptualize, research, and implement new ideas, processes, and technologies for the advancement of Medbio and its customers. The Manufacturing Engineer will provide guidance on quotes or new product developments as necessary, particularly where post-mold processing is required.
- Write and execute comprehensive qualifications/validations for any processes that involve something other than non-standard molding, including risk assessment.
- Work with internal teams to develop and implement procedures that increase the quality of Medbio-products.
- Work well with others in the organization to identify solutions and manage complex or difficult tasks.

Organizational Relationships:

This position works closely with Supervisors, Technicians, and/or Process Engineers, coordinates with Quality Assurance and Production on inspection or manufacturing activities, and provides project-specific information to Program Managers, Project Engineering, Documentation, Finance, Sales, and Operations as necessary.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements:
- Engineering or relevant degree, or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- 2-3 years’ experience in plastic injection molding in a manufacturing engineer role preferred
- Hands on experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of automation systems and equipment.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, MS Project).

- Strong written/verbal communication skills.

As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
**What you'll do.**
In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program - from initial concept through final assembly. This will involve the application of lean manufacturing principles to ensure the highest quality, most efficient processes and products possible. You will:
+ Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program, beginning at initial concept through launch at the final assembly facility.
+ Development of tooling and facilities based on product and process.
+ Apply lean manufacturing principles.
+ Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds.
+ Drive resolution of manufacturing issues.
+ Interface with Design and Release activities.
+ Develop formal assembly process instructions and enter the process sheets into VPS system.
+ Lead assembly tooling specification purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site.
+ Track all open tooling and process issues and drive to closure including meeting all exit criteria deliverables - cycle time, throughput, workstation readiness, etc.
+ Prepare management presentations.
+ Drive quality, cost and labor improvements.
+ Support new model launches. During launches, the position will require extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment.
+ Deliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective system. Understand component data and a system impact.
+ Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch.
+ Operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
+ Work with minimal direct supervision
**You'll have.**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering
+ Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)
+ Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.
+ 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
+ Up to 40-50% travel required

+ Solid background with virtual manufacturing tools
+ Experience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environment.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills
+ Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)

Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer designs, develops, tests, and evaluates integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including personnel factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and materials flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
Main responsibilities
- Analyzes product specification according to manufacturing guidelines to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished products
- Develops manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to ensure staff and facility resources are utilized efficiently
- Recommends methods to improve the utilization of personnel, material, and other resources to maximize performance and efficiency
- Verifies revisions of products and production methods and issues change orders to ensure currency of engineering drawings and documentation of production problems
- Applies and analyzes mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards
- Meets daily with Beaver and RSI staff to discuss current repair and production activities
- Collaborates with staff engineers to resolve production problems in a manner that maximizes product reliability and minimizes cost
- Confers with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status
- Designs layout of equipment, materials, and workspace using drafting tools and computer software to conceptualize and implement efficient production methods
- Reviews production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
- Estimates production costs and the effects of product design changes and reviews findings with management to help control, prevent, and eliminate waste
- Implements procedures for the disposition of discrepant material and damaged or defective parts by identifying and eliminating problems and assessing cost and responsibility
- Contacts customers to discuss product concerns and makes technical suggestions or modifications to products or production methods
- Issues debit memos to suppliers to facilitate the return of defective materials, equipment or services
- Submits purchase requisitions to the purchasing department when outside services, materials, or equipment are needed
Our ideal candidate:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- Two years of industrial engineering experience
- Proficiency using computer based data entry systems such as MS Office, Pro-E, Oracle, and AutoCad
