Pay Range:

FUCHS offers competitive pay commensurate with experience in a similar position. The range for this position is $2 - 24 per hour, but actual compensation will vary depending upon a new hire's experience and qualifications as well as internal equity. You will also receive mileage reimbursement and an automobile allowance. Time on the road is compensated.

The schedule:

There is 1 opening available on the day shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)with an additional 5-10 hours/week overtime as needed (including travel).

Your Responsibilities:

As a member of the FUCHS Smart Services (FSS) team, you will be part of a driven community focused on delivering world-class solutions that help propel our customers forward. The FUCHS Smart Services Technician III is responsible for the care and maintenance of our clients' industrial fluids, including coolants, washes, and other fluids, across four customer bases in North Carolina. Your primary activities will involve sampling & testing fluids, managing inventory, & maintaining fluid-related systems and equipment.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collect samples from industrial fluid systems and perform laboratory testing, making corrections based on results


  • Operate and perform routine preventive maintenance on lubrication and fluid decantation systems, including filter changes and system cleanings


  • Check and record system fluid levels, maintaining the proper fluid level on each system


  • Input data daily and generate performance reports.


  • Conduct daily product inventory audits to ensure adequate supply chain requirements


  • Handle materials, operate lift trucks, and move drums and totes


  • Follow procedures and adhere to all customer and safety requirements


  • Participate in daily communication meetings with site manager and other technicians, and communicate effectively


  • Review daily compliance reporting and work with other onsite technicians


Travel

  • This role requires daily travel within a 2-hour radius to support service requirements


Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Previous work experience working in manufacturing environment related to lubricants and/or laboratory testing preferred.


  • Prior experience leading a team is desired


  • Standing and/or walking for approximately 4-8 hours daily.


  • Computer knowledge and the ability to navigate the internet and email


  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs as well as standing and/or walking for approximately 4-8 hours daily


  • Previous forklift experience is desired

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Manufacturing Coordinator Purpose of Position:

  • To assist the production Team Leader in daily communication, to coordinate production schedules, assignments and direction of production personnel to expedite the flow of product through the plant in the most efficient manner.

  • Be the front-line leadership of the area/department by coaching and assisting floor personnel to resolve daily issues while always observing personnel behaviors and reporting all code of conduct violations to a supervisor immediately.

Major Responsibilities /Ongoing Tasks:

A. Review production needs and schedule objectives with Team Leader, communicating them to plant floor personnel through oral or written communication. Conduct thorough shift handoffs and maintain shift handoff log daily.

B. Identify and isolate the source of problems whenever possible, taking corrective action with the direction of the production supervisor. Maintain close interface with cable support groups.

C. Always monitor quality of product being produced. Escalate recurring issues to a supervisor, MET and Engineering. Document issues, resolutions or deviations in the shift handoff.

D. Ensure and validate product is flowing through the process in the correct order/sequence to maintain on-time schedule performance. Coach floor personnel on run sequence and report any violations of the run sequence to a supervisor.

E. Monitors skill levels of personnel suggest training classes/certifications and ensures operators have adequate skills to perform their responsibilities. Any gaps in training or certification outside of the normal training plan must be communicated to the Team Leader. An example is having a certified operator who is unable to complete task in a safe or efficient manner resulting in potential hazards or inefficiencies.

F. In the absence of the supervisor and with the assistance of available Manufacturing, resources are responsible for coordinating and directing the cable production operation including normal production supervisor responsibilities excluding disciplinary action or reprimands. If disciplinary actions or other major problem conditions arise, the supervisor or other designated management representative is to be contacted immediately.

G. Maintains safety and good housekeeping by being directly responsible for performing work in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment. Is responsible for his/her safety as well as that of others that may be at the facility, whether working or visiting. Is responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive for reporting any unsafe conditions.

H. Performs as assigned or as outlined in Production Coordinator Expectations. Recognizes team work and high performance in the department, communicates to supervisor.

I. Maintain success as measured by shift goal numbers. Report excessive downtime to a Supervisor within 30 minutes of the line/equipment being down beyond the scheduled/allotted time. Highlight and communicate personnel gaps and overages to a Supervisor and team PCs.

J. Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings required by plant management, including the daily PC/TL meeting.

**Purpose of Position:**
Manufacturing Associates are responsible for raw materials, in- process ware flow, subassemblies, and
finished goods used within the cable manufacturing process.
This may include UV coloring, stranding, buffering, ribboning, IPQC, jacketing, print/respool, cable repair,
shipping/ receiving, and cutting and packaging
**Requirements:**
High School or General Education Diploma (GED).
Fork lift experience.
At least 18 years of age.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of machine capabilities.
Shift: 12 hour rotating shifts
**Major Responsibilities:**
Beginning of shift check with Manufacturing Coordinator regarding assignments and production priorities
Responsible for assembling shop papers, MI's and raw materials prior to start up.
Start up and change overs are per standard operating procedure
Monitor lines while running to ensure quality product, perform necessary PQA checks to ensure product is
manufactured to specification.
Associates are required to report non conformance
Ensure work space is 5S ready, clean and orderly
Associates are expected to know performance metrics and work toward targeted objectives
May perform weekly associate maintenance.
Associates should proactively report any equipment issues as soon as they become aware.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures, may occasionally troubleshoot
Assist RD&E with experiments as requested
Loading and unloading raw materials.
Attention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according
to environmental and hazardous materials protocols
Receiving materials to stock, storing, issuing raw materials and miscellaneous items for production use
while maintaining inventory accuracy using cycle counts and daily transactions.
Properly label and package reels for shipment to customer.
Verify QC paper work, barcode and data sheets, with reel tag.
Physically inspect reel via traverse, damage, and print statement
Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product, assist others as necessary, and promote
safety awareness

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. **Purpose of Position:** To assist the production Team Leader in daily communication, to coordinate productionschedules, assignments and direction of production personnel to expedite the flow of product through the plantin the most efficient manner. Be the front-line leadership of the area/department by coaching and assistingfloor personnel to resolve daily issues while always observing personnel behaviors and reporting all code ofconduct violations to a supervisor immediately.
**Major Responsibilities /Ongoing Tasks:**
+ Review production needs and schedule objectives with Team Leader, communicating them to plant floorpersonnel through oral or written communication.
+ Conduct thorough shift handoffs and maintain shift handoff log daily.
+ Identify and isolate the source of problems whenever possible, taking corrective action with the direction ofthe production supervisor.
+ Maintain close interface with cable support groups.
+ Always monitor quality of product being produced.
+ Escalate recurring issues to a supervisor, MET and Engineering.
+ Document issues, resolutions or deviations in the shift handoff.
+ Ensure and validate product is flowing through the process in the correct order/sequence to maintain ontime schedule performance.
+ Coach floor personnel on run sequence and report any violations of the run sequence to a supervisor.
+ Monitors skill levels of personnel suggest training classes/certifications and ensures operators haveadequate skills to perform their responsibilities.
+ Any gaps in training or certification outside of the normal training plan must be communicated to the TeamLeader. An example is having a certified operator who is unable to complete task in a safe or efficientmanner resulting in potential hazards or inefficiencies.
+ In the absence of the supervisor and with the assistance of available Manufacturing, resources areresponsible for coordinating and directing the cable production operation including normal productionsupervisor responsibilities excluding disciplinary action or reprimands. If disciplinary actions or other majorproblem conditions arise, the supervisor or other designated management representative is to be contactedimmediately.
+ Maintains safety and good housekeeping by being directly responsible for performing work in a safe mannerand maintaining a safe work environment.
+ Is responsible for his/her safety as well as that of others that may be at the facility, whether working orvisiting.
+ Is responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive for reporting any unsafe conditions.
+ Performs as assigned or as outlined in Production Coordinator Expectations.
+ Recognizes team work and high performance in the department, communicates to supervisor.
+ Maintain success as measured by shift goal numbers.
+ Report excessive downtime to a Supervisor within 30 minutes of the line/equipment being down beyond thescheduled/allotted time.
+ Highlight and communicate personnel gaps and overages to a Supervisor and team PCs.
+ Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings required by plant management, including the daily PC/TLmeeting.
**Knowledge and Skill Requirements:**
+ Demonstrated ability to direct cable production processes in accordance with SOP's and M.I.'s. Ability tocommunicate to production personnel, the processes and procedures necessary to ensure the product andthe quality of fiber optic cable.
+ Knowledge of cable processing, manufacturing equipment and raw materials used throughout plant, morespecifically in Ribbon.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
