Essential Functions:
Provides direct support to Hangar, Dock, and Line (HDL) through problem root cause analysis and improvement recommendations/implementation; pre-induction setup; improvement efforts directed toward workflow, work sequencing, work area layout, standardized work, development and training of metrics, and input processes to HDL efforts to ensure the safe and efficient utilization of time, personnel, material, equipment, and capital resources. TX Optics Consolidated Manufacturing Center is seeking a dedicated CMM Technician eager to learn optics manufacturing for a 1st shift position. The technician will be primarily responsible for setting up and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), performing a variety of inspection operations to verify the quality and accuracy of optical components. This role may require the candidate to set up and operate other optical manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced shop with a low-volume, high-mix environment.
What you will do:
- Set up and operate CMM to conduct precise measurements of optical components, tooling, and fixtures, including:
- Perform routine calibration and qualification of probes, as well as maintain equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance, including regular cleaning procedures.
- Perform complex inspections on purchased mechanical parts, components, and assemblies, as required for incoming quality inspections.
- Assess and interpret measurement data, including output data and graphical element data to verify compliance with specifications outlined in drawings and work instructions.
- Read and interpret optical component specifications from drawings, including knowledge of GD&T.
- Independently set up and operate various optics manufacturing equipment, as required.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering to develop programs for CMM using Calypso.
- Adhere to all environment, health, and safety rules, requirements, and procedures.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Operate interferometers or other optical measurement instruments, as needed.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
