- Provides oversight and support for operations in achieving daily/monthly production goals;

- Ensures worker safety is #1 priority by providing reviews, oversight to training plan, equipment, etc.;

- Leads safety, quality, manufacturing, and engineering to drive continuous improvement throughout the facility; provides feedback, input, and approval on new and existing improvement initiatives;

- Monitors daily efficiencies to ensure work allocations are correct and that utilization is maximized;

- Set and execute policies and processes;

- Develops planning for long-term growth through capacity planning; reviews status of all current and future production orders; collaborates with supply chain management team; assists with purchasing to ensure all parts are available as needed;

- Forecasts and maintains monthly budget; coordinates with accounting team to drive sustained profitability;

- Manages all capital improvement projects;

- Manages and collaborates with plant Human Resources regarding the hiring, discipline and termination of salaried employees; evaluates employees and gives feedback for improvement; supports successful growth and development of employees;

- Collaborates with engineering and quality departments to ensure all KPI's and metrics are being met or exceeded; resolves open quality alerts and implements corrective actions;

- Manages sales and customer service; works with customers to identify new sales opportunities.

**Qualifications and Experience:**

- Steel machining and fabricating industry experience a plus;

- TOC/DBR, Lean manufacturing experience a plus;

- Ability to successfully integrate complex business processes in a job shop, made-to-order manufacturing environment;

- Proven executive-level leadership capabilities required;

- Extremely organized with excellent written and oral communications skills;

- High analytical ability to problem solves at multiple levels;

- Understanding of quality tools used in a manufacturing environment;

- In-depth experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, etc.;

- Understanding of scheduling and manpower planning;

  • Manufacture precision optics and optical components.
  • Read and interpret optical drawings/specs including GD&T. Interpret interferograms, CMM reports, and other metrology data.
  • Independently set up and operate lathes, flycutters, polishing equipment, and other manual/CNC machines.
  • Use interferometers and CMMs to inspect parts for quality.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Job requires standing 80-90%, walking 10-20%, bending 20%, lifting <15 lbs.

Job Description

PGS Worldwide is actively recruiting for two highly technical CNC Technician roles to support a world-class ultra-precision optics manufacturing facility in Richardson, TX . These are full-time, on-site roles supporting a cutting-edge aerospace and defense environment that demands attention to detail, high precision, and technical excellence.

Role 1: CNC Technician - Optical Polishing

Shifts Available: 1st & 2nd
  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture precision optics and optical components using polishing systems
  • Read optical component drawings/specs, including GD&T
  • Interpret interferograms, CMM reports, and metrology data
  • Set up and operate CNC/manual polishing machines, lathes, flycutters
  • Perform bi-weekly polishing machine maintenance
  • Use advanced inspection tools such as interferometers and CMMs
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Required Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on ability to disassemble, reassemble, and troubleshoot equipment
  • Comfortable running multiple machines in a cell environment
  • Strong understanding of geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to handle delicate optical components with precision
  • Flexibility to work any shift or compressed schedule
Desired Skills:
  • Two-year technical degree preferred
  • Optical metrology and machine maintenance experience
  • Surface quality inspection experience
Role 2: CNC Technician - Optical Manufacturing (Cutting)

Shift: 1st Shift Only
  • Working Hours: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture precision optics through cutting, machining, and shaping operations
  • Set up and operate CNC/manual lathes, flycutters, and other machines
  • Read optical drawings/specs and interpret GD&T
  • Inspect components using interferometers and CMMs
  • Interpret metrology results including interferograms and CMM data
  • Collaborate with engineers on production optimization
  • Maintain safe and organized work environment
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in geometry/trigonometry
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking ability
  • Experience handling precision optical parts
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced technical environment
Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, and speeds
  • Experience with G-Code programming and optical freeform cutting
  • Familiarity with Calypso or DIFFSYS programming
  • Two-year technical degree preferred
  • Experience measuring ultra-precision components
Training & Advancement:
  • Initial training provided on 1st shift (minimum 2-3 months)
  • Performance reviewed at 1 day and 60 days
  • Direct hire opportunities may be available after 2-3 months for high-performing candidates
Compensation:
  • 1st Shift Pay: $27.74/hour
  • 2nd Shift Pay: $29.96/hour
